Diva,
Your having anxious thoughts about traveling and when we expect the worst we tend to be on the lookout for any small signs that we might be starting to panic. As it may be hard to do exposure therapy, you will have to work hard on challenging your anxious thoughts. Here's list of questions to think about.
1. Is it "true"?
2. How do I know it€™s true?
3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is not 100% true)
4. What's the evidence for it being true?
5. What's the evidence against it being true?
6. Has it ever happened before?
7. What's different now?
8. If it were true, how bad would it really be?
9. What's the worst thing that could happen?
10. If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?
Members, can you think of any ways to practice exposure therapy.

Hello Miki!
Thanks for all the great ideas, I really appreciate it. Travelling is definetely an issue for me as it has many triggers that freak me out and yet I soooo want to go! So all ideas are welcome and I do intend to put them to good use!
Thanks again!

I don't know if this may help.. and it may sound ridiculous but I'm thinking of practicing sleeping in my car for like a week. I know how uncomfortable that would be yet I'll always be able to go back inside if anything happens and it may get me used to changing where my "comfort zone" (in the house) is. Or maybe practice sleeping somewhere in the house that is uncomfortable. Other thing is keep imagining all the great and fun things that can happen on the trip and maybe your motivation will take you through. This is all I could think of since, I wouldn't know if I can do it too. But good luck, yet don't pressure yourself either.
Ok,
Well, to celebrate my graduating, my mom is offering me and my husband a chance to travel with her over the weekend. This trip does not involve flying. I really want to do this it sounds like so much fun! We are going somewhere I really want to visit. The only problem is that it is at least an 8 hour drive there, it is in another country and I am afraid of being far from home.
I sooo want to go! and yet get pangs of sheer terror sometimes when thinking of the trip. I really don'T want to let my anxiety rob me of a fun experience.
I want to get ready to go so I can deal with this and I have plenty of time it is in july. Thing is I have no money so shorter trips or what not are not possible to practice. But if anyone has suggestions as to things I could do to help prepare or do exposure work till then I would so love your input! I have no financila means but I have much will to conquer this so I am open to suggestions!
Thank you in advance!
