I came off paxil, it was hard, took me forever. I kept getting a buzzing sensation in my head, it was wierd, so I gradually cut the dose down. My new doctor put me on Effexor RX, I start tomorrow, first time i'm going on it, as I am Celexa, but its not really making me feel any better, I called the docs office, and of course I can never speak to her directly, I always get the nurse, and I said there are so many side effects and i'm worried about taking them, well she says they have to list them all in case. So tomorrow will see when I take the first one!

Dolphin4me, See if you can move your doctors appointment up so you can discuss the side effects that you're experiencing with him as soon as possible. You can also go to your pharmacist and speak with them. In the mean time, make sure you are writing all of your symptoms down and recording their intensity and duration so you can present it when you speak with your doctor. Hi dolphin4me Lol.. funny we all have issues taking the meds.. I did too.. Years ago but I'm glad I finally did. They sat on the counter for 2 weeks approximately before my husband finally convinced me it was for the best.. lol.. As for dosing.. I take paxil not prozac but I had a lot of issues in the beginning with side effects. I've always been VERY sensitive to meds and don't usually need the full "recommended" dose so for myself I could never take the recommended dose of 40mg per day..This is all by trial and error though so you just need to perservere.. The side effects will pass as your body adjusts but if they last for too long you will need to discuss them with your doctor. You have to remember you're creating a chemical change within your body so it's going to take some time for your body to find it's balance. It's different for everyone which makes the meds so frustrating. For years 10mg per day was enough for me and now I take 15 mg total daily but I split it up... Works for me and it keeps me grounded.. I've never been able to come off of the paxil.. The lowest I've been is 5mg and then it slowly creeps back in.. but as my doctor said.. if you needed insulin you would take it.. so if you're lacking seratonin..you NEED to take this.. synthetic or not.. Ok.. I've rambled long enough.. Remember you're strong..and a fighter!!

lol! ... it took me a while to pick up my meds to ....I stress about taking them and usually sit with it infront of me for a while before I actually decide to take it (odd I know) I also wanted to ask .... has or is anyone taking Prozac??... I started about 3 weeks ago on 10mg and was to go up to 20mg in 7 days then 30mg then up to 40mg .... however when I started taking 20mg I started having tremors... kinda like I had 10 cups of coffee - I did it for the 1st 2 days and got scared so I went back to 10mg .... I was just wondering if this affected anyone else like this before?.. I am seeing my Dr at the end of the month and will dicuss with him also Just wondering!! :)

Minnesota, Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your concerns regarding your medication. He/she should have some to discuss why it is being prescribed and how it will help you. There are many other alternative therapies that can help with anxiety and can be used alone or in conjunction with medication. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (the weekly sessions) is one example. Maybe our other members can share what techniques they have used to help with their anxiety. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

HI, I saw my GP on tuesday, and she was going to increase my meds, instead she decided to put me on Efexor. I feel like she just wants to keep changing my meds, and if it doesnt work lets just put me on something else. Has anyone heard of Efexor? I saw its for depression, but is it for anxiety? I"m not super depressed or anything like that..I have my moments its more about the anxiety for me. I am still on the celexa and havent picked up the prescription yet. Most of the stuff I read online says one can beat anxiety without meds, as if you keep taking meds you just supress the problems and dont really fix them or help them. I"m so confused about whats out there for meds!!!
