Hello! I was great when I was pregnant- this sounds really bad but going to the doctor's every 4 weeks, or 2 weeks (depending on stage) really made me feel good and safe and that I was being looked after- (this is a not good thing) but it really feed my need to see a doctor lots and anytime I wanted. Lots can change when your pregnant. I had amazing immunity when I was pregnant. Everyone is different, but everyones emotions can get a little more out of whack with all the hormones! Having a kids is awesome, don't let anxiety hold you back. I wish you all the best.

Hi Tiluli. First of all, I think that (based on all your posts and your character as revealed in them) you would make a fantastic mother! I started having panic and anxiety about a year before I started my pregnancy, and my son is now 2. My panic and anxiety wasn't as bad as it is now, but it was definitely affecting me. However, for me personally, pregnancy and the first year of being a mother were the most peaceful and comfortable years of my life. It was actually a break from the panic. I was initially nervous when I found out I was pregnant - we had been open to the idea, but once that test is staring you in the face, you can be overwhelmed with emotions and fears and hormones! It's very important to remember that all of those feelings, and the concerns you have about childbirth and about how you'll handle a pregnancy - those things are all totally normal and common to almost all women who are contemplating motherhood. I always reassured myself that it was perfectly acceptable to be scared and nervous. Moreover, many books I read on parenting and pregnancy actually said being concerned and nervous and anxious about motherhood really means you're more likely to be a good mother, because you already CARE. I personally felf very calm and in control during my pregnancy, and I felt very at ease staying home for the first year with my son (everyone gets one full year of paid maternity leave in Canada - some at about 60% and others like myself are fortunate enough to work for an employer who tops you up to about 100% of your normal salary). I was initially very worried about whether I would be panicky during pregnancy and also worried about whether I could handle day upon day with an infant relying soley on me. But I was very pleasantly surprised with how natural and calming it was to just BE with your child. I have never taken any meds, so I couldn't help on that front, but I have read other posts in the past from women who were put on certain ones because they were safe for the baby during pregancy and breastfeeding. I'm sure you already know this, but you would have to be very careful and make sure your doctor ok's the meds for the baby. I'm pretty sure there are some that are ok. Hello. I was wondering if anyone here had a baby while living with an anxiety disorder? Like during pregnancy and childbirth and after? And if you took meds or not during that time? I want to get pregnant, but am afraid of "freaking out" while pregnant with all the associated symptoms, plus childbirth scares the daylights out of me! Thanks!
