Ok i did my studying and i am ready for bed but i must admit i am a bit on edge about this exam.I am visualizing myself succeeding at taking the exam calmly and doing good breathing. Also i am telling myself that i usually do good on exams and i have sutdied well so the odds of me doing well tomorrow are really good. Anyway, i have managed to stay relatively calm today but i am still scared and worried. I will go lie down now i know if i sleep well i will feel more in control tomorrow. Anyway, just needed to vent! Will keep you posted! -Diva

Diva, I have this problem every couple of weeks or so when I have tests but I have gotten alot better about it and rarely freak out during exams. The visualizing is a great technique to use and I also tell myself that I will be done within a half an hour or so and then I can leave. This is sort of like a reward for me because I no longer have to sit through a two hour class, I get to take an exam and then leave therefore being anxious for a short time while taking an exam is way better than struggling two hours in a class. I just look at it as more of a reward now instead of looking at it as what if I freak out, fail, panic, etc. Also, you are studying and preparing yourself now so you shouldn't worry about failing. If you know the material you will do well just do some breathing exercises if you get anxious. I flip to the back of the exam and work from back to front when I get really anxious during an exam(not sure why but it helps me to be less anxious for some reason). Well, I hope this helps you. I am sure you will do fine. ~Isabella~

Diva, Start visualizing yourself in the room taking the exam, use your deep breathing to help control your anxiety. Also be sure to practice your positive self-talk. You may also want to talk to your student association or professor. Most universities and colleges allot extra time or a room to write the exam in by yourself for students who experience extreme anxiety. Hope this helps. I am not in the part of the program where i do exposure or anything yet. I am actually in the beginning of week two lol. But this is kinda out of my control. I do not pick and choose the dates of my exams. So, here is the situation. I have an exam on Monday morning! I have already started preparing for it. I have already reread my notes (without intense studying) three times up to know. I have planned for saturday all day and sunday all day to be study day. I planned my saturday and sunday evenings off for relaxation so i can manage my anxiety levels. But i must admit that as much as i act all brave about this and pretend like it doesn't scare me with people around me and such. I must admit i am nervous about it. I have been having more and more anxious thoughts about it. Thoughts like oh no! I will flunk, i feel dumber by the second. None of this will go in! I will be so nervous i will have a panic attack in class!!! Now, i have been dutifully writting theese thoughts down on my anxious thoughts sheet and categorizing them according to the categories on session two but beyond making sure i breather right and trying to take it one moment at a time i am not too sure what to do. Anyway, if you could just help me out a bit so i can get through my mid terms it would be great. I know i shouldn't skip ahead on my CBT schedule but i do want to succeed on my exams lol. Thanks very much! -Diva
