Hi fixing! thats a good question because i have difficulty getting in the 'zone' too. I"m not a professional meditator lol. I'm pretty much on the same level as you are! But my yoga video has some sort of meditation in it. So thats how i learned. Basically, you are supposed to find a quiet place in your home. Sit on the floor cross legged. I think your middle finger is supposed to touch your thumb. Then you close your eyes and just focus on your BREATHING (this is something we probably hate doing lol...buts its actually helpful).
AS you breath in, your tummy should go out like a balloon. As you breath out the tummy should go back in. So just focus on that. (Also, if you find it hard to sit, you can lay down...thats what i do...i find its easier to focus on my breathing that way with my tummy going up and down).
Then you can imagine this bright sun or star right above your head. This sun/star is your friend. It is a powerful source of energy that is emitting energy into your head. Imagine that bright energy coming into your head as you inhale....imagine it filling you with power, vitality, strength, purity (your NATURAL STATE). As you exhale, you can exhale out the negative energy if you feel that you have any (this is optional). You should not be forcing your breathing.....your breathing should be relaxed and effortless rather than forceful.
Do this for as long as you can focus. Of course, this will take practice. But if you do this every day for like 10 minutes, you can get better and better! I have to admit that i have been so bad lately with exercise and meditation...i had no time for it. But i will make time for sureeeeeeeeee. I need it!
