Paxil CR

kimmy dont be afraid of the meds paxil cr is one of many anti anxiety meds on the market. I have been on paxil for 8 yrs at different doses my last dose was 60mg a day. Ive also been on xanax for 8 yrs currently I take 6mg a day. I just started effexor xr 150 mg and 15mg of paxil and 6mg of xanax daily...I am switching off the paxil because it just didnt seem to do anything for me anymore and Effexor is a snri which blocks two receptors instead of one like paxil which is a ssri which just blocks seratonen. Anyways take the meds you be glad you did....

Kimmy, Please talk to your doctor about not taking Paxil CR. If you are not willing to take this medication then they will have to assess your sitution and maybe take on a whole new directive approach with your anxiety and panic. Melanie

I think Paxil CR is just paxil in a controlled release pill. I have taken 20 mg of Paxil a day for the last 6 years. I would never go back to my pre-paxil life. I was experiencing multiple anxiety attacks a day. Towards the end I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't look after my own kids. Within two weeks of starting paxil I was feeling much better. Now I am looking into CBT because if possible I would like to slowly wean off paxil if I can (only because of the lack of knowledge about long term use). The first few weeks the Paxil made me feel a bit sick but that soon wears off. I hope it works as well for you.

Hello Again, to all. It has been a long time since I last wrote, sorry, but I have had terrible anxiety/panick attacks pretty much 24/7. I finally got to the point I could not stand it anymore and went to a counselor....I wanted to make sure I was not going crazy!!! She told me that I definately have the severe end of anxiety to the point where it is considered OCD. Wow! I did not ralize I was that bad!!!! She told me to get intouch with a Physc Nurse Practioner...which I did. Went through the interview ect. She put me on Paxil CR the low dose of 25 mg's. I am afraid to take it!!!! Has any one taken this before???? Thanks for listening :) Kimmy
