Hi Bmac,

I think that you realize you need more support is actually a great sign. Check into AA but you also may want to see what other resources are in your area. Some communities offer free, drop in counselling or other services that may support you.

Let us know what you find!

Thanks Julie and Foxman, I appreciate the support. My plan isn't complete, I have check into AA meetings in my area but have yet to go. I am reading a book on Recovery by Stanton Peele.

Welcome back. I would go back and see how the progression took place. We all start with a firm resolution but somewhere along the line we drop guard and succumb to the desire to drink. The first step is realization that alcohol does not work for you and then without change we are bound to stay in un-manageability that will eventually lead us back to booze.

Hello Bmac,

Welcome back and I am so sorry to hear about the tough  time you are having. It sounds like you know what  you need to do.  I quit a few times and through that began to see what additional supports I needed in place to be successful.  Adding some more tools to your toolbox sounds like what you see you need, as in local support. Have you decided what local level help is available and realistic for you to use?  I have found that for me, getting a plan and supports in place before I take the leap helps.
 Best of luck BMac!

Thank you Ashley for the reply. I know what my triggers are, what causes me to drink so much. I have never been this low before, the urges are awful and I'm not very good at dealing with them. I really think I need some support at a local level. The online support helps but I don't think it is going to be enough this time.

Welcome back Bmac!

I am sorry to hear that you feel you have hit rock bottom but I am glad you are here now. Sometimes we do need to be scared straight so to speak in order to make us take action. All the attempts you made previously you have learned from. What did you learn from the 3 months that you think may help you now?

I'm introducing myself again because I've been missing for two years. It has been a very rough ride since May of 2016. I rallied several times and even made it 3 months once but now I'm worse off than I have ever been, possibly rock bottom. I was trying another website for the last year because I couldn't remember this site, thank goodness I finally remembered AHC. I truly need to do something now with my drinking before I die.  I'm looking forward to the support I'll get here.
