Welcome Little Mama,

Congratulations on coming here and being honest about your need for a change.  The positive change is ultimately for you, and if you think that you have a problem with alcohol, you probably do.  People who drink normally don't worry about having a problem; they can take it or leave it.  My husband is like that and I am not.  I too had people saying that they didn't think that I needed to quit drinking, but I knew that for my own sanity I did need to stop.  I began to realize that I didn't like the way things were going and after trying to moderate several times unsuccessfully, I decided that I had to stop completely.  The beginning was hard but I gathered lots of supports, made it my prioirity  and I did it. And it does get easier as time goes by.  Check out the stories on this website and post lots about how you are doing.  Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Welcome to the forum. The problem starts after an alcoholic puts the drink down. I couldn't handle my emotions because all my life alcohol was my go to substance. And my mind was warped. So I had to have a psychic change. In AA we call it the inventory process, where we look at the areas where we need to work on. Once we get that clarity, we get to make some sane decision when it comes to staying away from booze.

Hi I am new to the forum. I have decided I need help to quit drinking. By this I mean support. I know I have a drinking problem and all my support people in my life keep telling me I don't have a problem. I suppose that's because I don't look like the image they have of one who has a drinking problem. Today is the first day. I've tried many time before to stop without help. I hope coming to the forum every day, particularly during times I really want a drink, will help. That's all I have now.
