Hi Freedom52,

You are on the right track. Well done so far. I enjoy your positive attitude. Stay strong and trust in yourself. You are on the right track now and life will continue to get better. Always look for the best in your surroundings. Love those around you. It's always better to give yourself because it will come back to you.. You're doing great. Thanks for sharing..

All the best,

Dave

Wow: GUAAT-Guard up at all time.

Nice one. I have to be. Like Eckhart Tolle says our mind is a wonderful instrument but if we are not conscious it will drive us into the ditch if we allow it. For most human beings, the mind has taken over. It runs us.

I love your foresight freedom52. That kind of thinking will ensure your success. Over confidence and getting through the "honeymoon" period can certainly lead to a slip or relapse. It is always important to keep your guard up. GUAAT = Guard Up At All Times!

You also ask a really great question - why have you fallen off the improved lifestyle in the past? If you can work on that question there is a lot of learning to be gained!

Congratulations on your first week Freedom52!  Have you set a goal yet?  They say that it takes at least 90 days to rewire your brain.  I signed up for a 100 day challenge for sobriety.  For me, this final time, it took accepting that I can not moderate and that I have to keep alcohol out of my life.  Keep your sobriety momentum going!

Only time will tell. It all depends on how badly we have mangled our thought process. Best would be to be conscious of whats going on up in the head. Be vigilant. Constantly ask yourselve, whats going on inside you. Is there any non-acceptance at this moment. Usually thats what starts the whole malady. We don't accept a life situation.

After my tumultuous first week and health scare, I had the most amazing weekend. Curling at a bonspiel (which we won) and crazy beautiful sunday morning snow shoeing with great gal pals. I feel so much better and my head is clear. Lots of laughter with co-workers and productivity on my thesis paper. So why have I fallen off this undeniably improved life style in the past?  Why might I fall again? Does confidence allow delusion thinking that I am cured?

This time I am making full use of the diary. If I even think that I can go back to martinis, I will reflect back on my first week of hell. I definitely captured the agony, the despondent thinking, the shame and the very real physical ramifications so that I cannot rewrite history and be flippant with my success.  Thanks for reading and feedback on your strategies is always appreciated.  BEST to you ALL!
