Are you still on?

Sorry to hear about your back...one thing I'm learning is to think about symptoms realistically. So in regards to your back, it is helpful to think of ALL the other SIMPLE explanations that could be causing your pain. Also, if it was something horrible it would not come and go but only get worse. Do you see a chriopractor? I had a back problem that caused major rib pain. For the last week I've been battling with this horrible nauseous feeling that won't go away (and no pregnancy is not a possbiblity ;)). It kind of started like a cold and it just won't go away, even with Gravol. So I broke down and called the doctor this morning, I'm going later this afternoon. I normally would hold out longer but I'm going on a trip next week and can't be feeling like this. So what is you group like? Are the other people easy to relate to? I'm going to guess that large part of your book has to do with "facing your fears." Possibly writing your death story, planning your funeral, that kind of idea?? So do you do much talking/sharing or more listening? So is your doctor someone that understands you and you feel comfortable with? My doctor of 8 years just retired, she understood me very well, infact she's the one that suggested that I get professional help. I felt good with her because she never sent me for tons of tests but didn't ignore what I was saying. She also helped me reason out why I didn't have a disease. However, today I'm seeing her replacement who is my age- so I'm a little nervous about that. Well, I hope you are feeling better. Take care :)

Hey Alison, that does sound like a tiring weekend, but what fun to see your little girl all done up as a flower girl! Those are the things I miss with 2 boys! I've had a bit of a nasty weekend. For the past couple of months I've had this really REALLY excrutiating pain in my back and abdomen - it only hits once every few weeks, but when it hits, yikes, I can honestly say I would choose the 28 hours of childbirth I went thru without an epidural, over the 2 hours of intense and debilitating pain I've been getting without warning. It's happened 3 times now, including the one last night, so I don't think I can put off seeing the doc about it anymore. I'm hoping it's nothing serious but of course am fearing the worst. It sounds like it might be an ulcer, I'm not sure. I'll see what he says tomorrow if I can get away from work long enough to see him. I still haven't done the CBT buddies, I think I will need to get my husband to try to do it for me, have you got it up and running yet? I figured out your psychologist's name because at my ADAM CBT group on Thursday, the facilitators said the workbook had been designed and written by Dr.... who was head of psych or something like that at St. B, and also had a private practice. So I thought, hey, maybe that's Alison's doctor... Hope you are doing well, talk to you soon. Caitlin

Hello! How was your weekend? My cousin got married this weekend and my daughter was the flower girl. It was a wee bit of a tiring weekend but it was a lot of fun. Have you had any luck installing the CBT Buddies?

Missed you again! Yes that would be the one in St.B! Infact I just an appointment with him last night! He has helped me so much I can't believe it. I truly don't know where I would be right now without him. I really don't like to depend on anyone emotionally that much- (so I need to work on that next!) Anyways, how did you figure that out? How was your group? I sure would like to actually talk to you! Take care :)

Allison, I'm sorry it's been so long since I've written. I wanted to let you know I really appreciated your comments about how to handle my mom's situation, you weren't harsh at all. Sometimes that's exactly what we need, someone to tell us how it is and really that just tells you it's ok to do what has to be done, it's like permission to do what you know you have to do but feel guilty doing unless someone says it's ok. How have you been? I went to the first CBT group tonight, and it was great, I can't wait to tell you about it. I'll try to get on again tomorrow night or on the weekend. BTW, that great psychologist you have, is one of his initials W and does he work out of St. Boniface? Caitlin
