Hey ralph congratulations, keep it up. Like you I am an alcoholic too, I'm new in this forum and I'm looking for something that can help me to stop my alcohol drinking. How do you feel now?

Hi Ralph--Great job! The first few weeks are so hard. The night sweats and morning wakeup call from my brain at 4am drove me crazy. But eventually the sleep will get better and so will everything else. Hang in there. It is hard and I've had my rough patches but it's worth it to continue to really live. Looking forward to reading your story.,

I am with Foxman. The fellowship of AA offers the support of people who have been though it. They are willing to help because them helping helps them stay sober. Go to a few meetings and you will understand. I drank for 25 years, quit cause my life was a disaster total rock bottom. Went to a meeting my first day, felt like crap for a weeks but I am happy to say because of AA I am 8 month sober this week. NO WAy would I have done that without the fellowship of AA

Hi Ralph,

The first week or so was pretty uncomfortable and had a wide range detoxing effects, like anxiety, listlessness, night sweats, panic attacks, and a general urge to consume alcohol. It passes though and you're pretty much at the tail-end of it so be patient. Really start to focus on your nutrition if you haven't already and replenish your vitamin stores, especially B vitamins. We ravage our body through alcohol abuse and need to rebuild it. Fortunately our bodies are built to recover. Exercise helps as well. TS, is right on all counts, so post lots and share your thoughts and ideas.

Well done on 10 days!

All the best,

Dave

I feel lousy

Very common trait of alcoholism. I had to seek help and upon advice from my shrink I entered the fellowship of AA.

Hi Ralph and welcome,

10 days without a drink is great! TS is correct you will feel alot better soon.  I came onboard only 6 weeks ago and it was my first time  alcohol free (3 days) in many years also.  The support here is just great.  You are not alone on your journey, there are many here to help you along the way.  Checkin often and share your thoughts.

all the best,

Welcome Ralph,

Great job on your 10th AF day. The first couple of weeks can be pretty tough depending on how much you were accustomed to drinking. You will feel so much better in short order.  Be sure to read others shares often and post frequently to keep yourself on track. It's been my experience that the more you share, the greater your chances of success. I found personally when I stopped coming to the site I soon returned to my old habits. By being actively involved you will maintain your focus. I hope you find this site as helpful as I have.

Best of luck on your journey and know that we're here for you.
