AHC Buddies Instant Messaging Service

Hello,

Sorry to say the instant messaging service is no longer available. We do have a private inbox in the works but currently we do not have funding to implement it. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Chuck,

Maybe the moderators can shed some light on this item. I went through the automated emails and found the one you're likely referring her....is it this one?

"Find someone online to quit or reduce with.

Other drinkers have found that having a "buddy" to quit or reduce with was very helpful. Some people prefer to buddy up with someone else who is quitting or reducing their drinking because they will understand how you feel.

Others prefer to buddy with a former heavy drinker; someone who has been through the change process.

You can use the AHC’s anonymous Instant Messaging service to find a buddy.

Perhaps more importantly, if you’re finding things are getting easier, become a buddy with someone who’s having a tough time.

I think instant messaging would be a idea, especially when you're just getting sorted out with quitting. I haven't seen one yet but CAMH may have a module to accommodate the instant messaging. CAMH seems to share a version of the AHC site.

Best regards,

Dave

There isn't an instant messaging service for the site I'm aware of...

How can I participate with the Instant Messaging Service?  It was mentioned in an AHC email; however, I cannot find it at the web site.  Thanks.
