Last chance before rehab

Greg,

it looks like you are on the wagon, well done.  Take is slow and steady.  there will be huge challanges during the next few days and next weekend.  I find planning as much as I can to mitigate against these chalenges can make the difference.

And even if there are set backs you now know you can do this.

Well done.

Sunday night, 11 pm. Going to bed now, stone sober. Good weekend. Thanks for everyone's support. I'm off for 4 days next weekend so that will be my next challenge.

Thanks, Rob. We went to SunFest last night as we do every year. Usually that would mean at least one drink before we left (on the sly) and a flask with some vodka to mix with a Gatorade once we got there. All I drank was water this year. Lots and lots of water which helped. I find keeping my thirst down helps the urges.
Anyway, Sunday morning was hangover-free for the first time in I don't know how long. Feels good and I don't see today being much of a struggle. My mind still goes there when a trigger comes on. My wife and daughter went out earlier leaving me home alone which is a huge one for me and I immediately wanted a drink. No booze in the house so not much of a problem. Hopefully these automatic urges will dissipate over time.
Signing off for now. I'll post tonight.
Thanks again.

Greg,

well done.  Not drinking on Friday night is always a big one.  This demonstrates that you can do this (one step at the time, and taking on board that there will be set backs on the way).

Best of luck,

Rob

Thanks, |Samantha. It's Saturday morning and I've made it through the week without drinking which, to be honest, is no big deal. Staying sober Monday-Friday has never been much of a problem. But, here I am, facing a weekend without drinking. I haven't been sober for an entire weekend for months. But, like I said, now that my wife is aware of my intentions I feel I have one more motivation to stick to it. We have plans to go to a summer festival later and I have a bunch of things to do around the house + my workouts so I should be fairly busy. I'm actually looking forward to feeling good in the morning for a change! Thanks again for your thoughts. I'll post Sunday night and let you know how I did.

Hello Greg1276,

Thank you for sharing this with us. It is great that you have involved your wife this time around. It sounds like you have a plan of attack, be sure to stick to it. Use the resources and support available to you in order to make this goal of yours a reality.

Please do continue to work hard and post often.

Greg,

we are all different but after 15 years of me trying to convince myself I can do this alone I went to an AA meeting, and realised nothing to fear about the meeting but fear itself.

Try it and you never know it might help but certainely wont hurt

It's crossed my mind but I've always convinced myself that I can do it alone. Isn't AA rooted in religion. If so I can't be a part of that.
