""where I can find details of AA meetings""

This is the official website for AA: http://www.aa.org/?Media=PlayFlash

There is a tab "How to find AA meetings" on the web-site that will help you find meetings in North America and Rest of the world.

Hello Misha13,
I am so glad you are in the fellowship of AA and better yet working the 12 steps. Hopefully your sponsor will help you lead to the promises the book talks about. This is about integrity, authenticity, responsibility and enriching ourselves and others. We got to be on top of this disease other wise it will eat us alive. But I can say, working the 12 steps I have been able to be desireless over considerable amount of time which is a miracle. Good luck.

I just messed up my message, but I think you get the point! Darn smartphone! Basically, because of this site, I realized I couldn't cut down or stop drinking on my own. I went to an AA meeting and am happily working my steps. :)

flu helped me see that I do feel so much better without drinking. I did of course retur my pattern of binge drinking just a couple of days later. Using this website and the tools on it, I finally decided to go with a friend to an AA meeting. Best thing I have ever done!! I am sober now for 9 days, and am working the steps and reading the books. I go to about 3 meetings a week and cannot tell you how silly I felt to have been so afraid! No one judges, people share stories of triumphs and stories of despair. No matter where I have attended a meeting, I am made instantly to feel welcome and safe. Thank you for this website as it helped me to truly see how much of a problem my drinking was. For anyone else, try an AA meeting, if you honestly cannot manage on your own or with this webs

Hello Misha13,

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am glad to hear that you are taking control of your alcohol consumption. Continue to work hard and use this positive momentum to help you along the way.

God bless the stomach flu! I had been cutting down but was having slips where I would still binge drink. A week ago Saturday, I started a detox diet and two later had a raging stomach virus. Well, perhaps it was all the toxins leaving my system, but I don't care what it was because I have not been drinking! I went five or six days with none at all; then on Friday, I had two small glasses of wine and I had had enough. Normally, I would have drank the entire bottle. I've never felt like okay, that's all I need. I know it hasn't been a huge amount of time and I am aware I could easily slip into those old patterns. I do so enjoy the things I can do now at night now instead of being hammered!
