Sobriety Gang (SoGa) - a support group for staying sober

Thank you Marylizy and PJ for your support.  I will persevere, I refuse to give up on myself.  I am resigned to the fact that I can't drink at all, I just need to get to that place where I'm strong enough to abstain permanently.  I felt so good all last week, and this week I will feel good again and hopefully no more slip ups.

Camiol.
Yes it is a new day and you are human. Please do not be hard on yourself. Read the quote of the day on the front page of this site. Just start again and again if necessary. We are all there for you.

Camiol,

Today is a new day, like you said.  Keep moving forward.  Maybe try to avoid trigger points?

You'll get this thing licked.  I have faith, and a lot of confidence in you!

I'm not pleased with myself at all today.  I ended up drinking too much yesterday.  It started at the bar with my BF in the afternoon, we had a couple glasses of wine, then when we came back my place I drank 3/4 of a 750 ml bottle of wine.  I am so angry at myself for screwing up my week of sobriety but today is a new day and Im starting over again.

Hi everyone,

Congrats to each of you for being where you are today.  Despite lingering triggers like social outings, celebrations, life stresses and relationship challenges, it sounds like you are each persevering and staying strong.   Keep it up!!

Tucker is holding his own, thank you for asking.  I can see he is slowly weakening and he tires out very quickly, but at this point he's not suffering and he is still a happy dog.

Turquoise I posted in Moga that I may have a glass of wine today when I meet my BF for a conversation.  I feel like a weight has been lifted off me by telling her about my marriage and this morning I also told my cousin.  I did make it one week without wine and I'm not sure I will have one today, I'll see how I feel about it when I see her.  I am going to tell her that I have a problem with alcohol and that I've been abstaining this past week.  Since last Friday I've lost 5 lbs, I'm thrilled and screwing up the weight loss by drinking again is making me think twice about having that wine today.

Have a great time camping Turquoise, I look forward to hearing how your weekend went.

Marylizy and Camiol, you are both doing great! And you too, PJ.

So positive about all this, despite so many difficult circumstances. Camiol, how is Tucker doing? It sounds like you are handling your BF really well. Honesty with yourself and your friends is such an important part of being happy, imo. I am struggling with the timing of this sobriety challenge, so I just posted in the Soga site about that part. At any rate, I'm off to another packed day. I'm going camping this weekend, so I may not post for a couple of days. Hang strong, everyone! Camiol, you have hit an entire week!!!!! I know you can make it through another weekend, particularly with your BF's help. Just focus on the club soda with some nice trimmings.... Have you thought about a virgin daiquiri as a treat?

Thank you Camiol and I know you will stay strong today also. Just keep coming back to this place in your mind and it will help. The day you feel you can have your one drink is the day you can test the waters. Only you know when that time will be. Good luck.

Kudos to you Marylizy for being strong and abstaining last night.  It feels good know you CAN do doesn't it?

I have a challenge today.  I have to take my daughter to a birthday party at a local sports facility.  It's for my BFs niece.  Anyway I am going to go to the bar that's in the facility with my BF and have a visit with her while I wait for the birthday party to end.  The fact that I have to drive is the obvious reason not to drink, but I know the "just one" demon will be on my shoulder, whispering in my ear.  I am confident I can get through it without drinking, I also know its not going to be easy.  It's going to be one minute at a time.

Hi
Well home from the bar, danced, drank ice tea and water and still had fun. Watched some drunks and have to say it was funny to be the one looking in....Feel proud but  now I need to make it again when I go to listen to music at another one of my favorite watering holes tomorrow night.
I dumped my wine just a few days ago, when I decided I needed a sobriety challenge. I know if I have it here, I will drink it. I have one beer in the fridge and that is no problem what so ever. That wine is the real bad stuff for me and I just love a good glass of red wine. Maybe one day I can have one...or two and then say, that's enough. Will see. This is only then end of my second day trying, this go round. I did make it almost 2 weeks a few months back...Thanks for all the support. Will check in tomorrow....Marylizy
