That is good news Turquoise. Good idea to get back on track instead of thinking it is too late.

Thumb up

Starting today, I pledge to everyone on this site that I will stay sober for the next four weeks. I refuse to let my recent trend away from moderation turn into a relapse. Instead of continuing the backslide, I'm going to recalibrate myself and check in here every day, and abstain completely until Christmas. The strength and determination of everyone on this site is always a great inspiration to me, and I'm reaching out for that right now. Have a great week, everyone!

I have a PPE exam tomorrow (Professional Practice Exam).

This is a large thing, because if I pass this I can become a Certified Technologist, and then I have a higher chance getting into McMaster for a Bachelor of Technology.  After I complete that, it could lead to a Masters degree and potential Ph.D.  I understand it's a lot of work and my view is far in perspective.

For me personally I want to correct my own life, not that I'm an overly flawed human being, I want to get back onto the track I wanted to be on.  I'm hard on myself, I know that, haha all of you do.

My potential has been so masked and hidden by insecurities, I've been sheltering myself..
A girl from work, I was talking to last night after a fun night of mini putt, she said you have a lot of trouble looking into girls eyes.  I said yes, I've been hurt so much by them, I don't trust them or have any confidence in them.  It was a nice reminder that I need to continue to build strength.  It's true, I just think women are judging me and making fun of me, so I try not to make eye contact with them.

Hi MizzySoleil,

Hold strong to your determination and your drive to improve your health.  I'm glad you were able to order the book, work through the program here and read the forums to gather more strength and strategies to be alcohol-free.
Wishing you success in your quit!

Thanks so much for your reply, I just ordered that book on half.com. For anyone else interested in the book, they had copies as cheap as 99 cents! I realize now that moderation is not an option for me, that once I start drinking, I will always want to get drunk, and once I get drunk, I don't stop until I blackout. I live in a college town and so the drinking scene is pretty intense out here, there are legimately way too many people in my life that DON'T think I have a "problem", or just don't understand why I can't just "drink a little less", but my problem is not wanting to drink too often, it's putting down the alcohol once I've had enough that NEVER happens. It has taken me 5 whole years since my 21st birthday to completely come to terms with this, but it does feel great to admit this to myself. It's like my admitting I have no control over my drinking and admitting my problem makes me feel more in control - like I know what I have to do, which is quit drinking, and although it will ne difficult, at least I am no longer exhausting myself trying to "moderate" my drinking. Thanks for all your help guys, I will be logging onto this site daily to keep myself sober!!
