Sobriety Gang (SoGa) - a support group for staying sober

12 years ago 0 234 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I'm feeling down,
to be honest,

I'm not sure why, but sharing anything I can offer to you, makes me feel like something.

I find it frustrating to meet a woman.  I don't value 6 pack abs, but I train hard, so it sometimes brings me down.

I prefer making music and having balance.

They say you will find it when you're not looking, maybe it's nice to just have a coffee

Sundays are always my down days

All SoGa's,

Don't lose support in yourselves.

We are all in this together.

The only advice I can give to anyone, keep being you.
Sometimes people want to trump it, but keep being you.

Negative word towards you are reflection of insecurity!

Love you SoGa's and MoGa's

Well,
Camiol,
You have your plans to deal with massives situations ( I was house sitting for my boss who found out his wife was cheating on him, and he is dealing with difficult things)  I'm not married so I can't totally relate, but from a friend sharing to me, I guess I can say I "understand".

I'm sorry I mixed up topper with Tucker.

Camiol,

Personally,
Being able to just talk about your drinking, the negative impacts, what it does, what it doesn't for you.  That's a step.

I'm not a saint. and I don't hide it.  I'm 26 and I've lost all my friends who dope and do drugs.  I need to catch myself and realize a sober life is a better life.  I feel down many days, but I know it's just me.  I feel down because my expectations of myself are so high.

When YOU feel ready, when you KNOW it's right, that's when you know things will change.

Sometimes insecure people feed on others in tough times, "oh, you don't need him etc"

The biggest support and people you need behind you are people who want to care for your well being, not deflecting pain to make someone else look worse

(I've experienced this, and it's disgusting)

Hi Camiol,

I just wanted to echo the supportive words offered by the SoGa group already.   It's important that you focus on yourself.  The fact that you are involved on this site, seeking support and not giving up on your efforts to change your drinking habits will help make you that much stronger.
Hold strong - you can do this and you know you are not alone!

PJ...yes I am going through a lot lately.  I am going to take the necessary steps to correct the things in my life that I need to fix.  My marriage is done in my heart and my mind, I need to tell my husband this.  I plan to start the talk next Friday night when our daughter is on an overnight visit with her grandparents.  I prefer that she is not here when I tell him how I feel in case it gets heated.  Personally I think he feels the same way and we're both waiting for the other to start the conversation.

My dog is so far doing ok, but it's very worrisome and stressful waiting for him to reach the point where he needs to be put down.  I'm constantly worried about him.

My drinking has been an ongoing battle for a while now but in my heart I know I want to change my drinking habit and be a normal person again.  Lots going on in my life that's for sure.  Of course the topper is the job I despise. I should be a basket case at this point, but I'm holding up amazingly well.  I keep thinking of the positive changes I'm making in my life and that keeps my spirit up. I am being me...that won't change.  PJ thank you for being such a wonderful supportive friend.  You give great advice and you're so insightful....I really do appreciate it.

Camiol,
Just keep being  you, that's all you can really do.

I have read about all the problems with your marriage, tucker, drinking.  You need to keep on being you, you know what is right for you, you know what you want.  Knowing, this is key!

Keep it up.

I hope your results come out fantastic!

A big congrats to you Marylizy for celebrating 4 days sober....thats awesome.  I am looking forward to saying I'm four days sober again.  I told my cousin today that I drank too much yesterday and she knew I was abstaining. She made me feel better by telling me it's really no big deal if I drink once in a while.  If I can keep it to an occasional thing she's right, it's not a big deal, but first  I need to abstain for longer than a week....much longer.

PJ I like your quote below, it's so true.  I'm going to concentrate on the moment and not fret over what I did yesterday.  It's what I'm doing right now that's important and right now I'm not drinking.

You go girl and never give up on you, as PJ says, live for the moment...Today is all that is important. Give your self some love and move on. This is day 4 for me and it does feel good. I have my Dr. check up/blood work next week so wanted my body to be clean of all substances. Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

that's the attitude Camiol!

As long as  you know yourself that you're trying, that's all you can ask for.  The fact you're working so hard shows the type of character you are.

have a great day of sobriety today, and worry about tomorrow when it comes.

funny quote, not sure if I have already said it

"If you have on foot in yesterday, and one foot in tomorrow, you're pissing all over today"

Live in the present, and worry only about the things you can control.

I used to live in the past, regrets, remorse "what if's" and then I would worry about the future, and get anxious over nothing.

Learning to be present has helped me a lot.

Keep it up!

I will always be on this forum, I like the people who have posted here.  Everyone seems great!
