Congrats and I have to tell you how much inspiration your message gave me. I am only on day 2 of not drinking and I have listed my goal as 2 drinks per day but really want 0. That  just seemed too far out of reach to start though. I hate the morning after wondering what I did, who did I call or email, what did I eat was also on the list. Thanks for your input and good luck.

Congratulations!  I'm right behind you at 18 days & I was amazed that I can still have fun weekends and not one trip to the bar!  Go figure!  ...even better, I remember everything!  It's also really nice during the week to not have to start my morning walking through the house, making sure I didn't leave anything on and checking to see what all I did and ate.  Amazing how easy it is to maintain a good diet/fitness routine when alcohol isn't clouding your judgement and packing in empty calories and emptying the pantry.

You are an inspiration to me.  I am on day 6 of cutting back / not drinking.  I am encouraged to hear that you are having success without AA.  I too am checking in regularly with my family doctor and I have asked her to help me find an individual counsellor.  I haven't yet told any frineds or family - but I think my mother and my husband must have noticed that my behavior has changed completely in the past few days.  I am thinking of letting people know that I am not drinking because my doctor told me that alcohol is a factor in my borderline osteoperosis.  I think that if I told a friend (none of whom are particularly close friends) they would be surprised too.

I have not been afraid to reach out for help.  I have a psychologist who really understands me and is very supportive.  As well, my family doctor is seeing me every 2 weeks to monitor my progress.  I see her tomorrow and I know she's going to be happy.  I have the support of my husband as well.  I have only told one good friend...she thought I was crazy when I told her I was stopping drinking.  I have been able to cover my drinking problem really well and I don't think anyone would suspect.  Once I told her that I was having a problem she was totally understanding.  Think she's kind of happy to have a DD in our bunch of friends!!!

Great work!

This is a big achievement!  How did you stay motivated to get this far?

Hi.  Today is my 21st. day without drinking.  I am soooo proud of myself.  It has been hard of course but I feel 100% better and happy that the stupid wine has stopped taking over my life!
