Welcome to the group poppykin!!!!

This place is GREAT and has really helped me get through the past few months. I had really hit a low point and coming here ultimately saved me. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but just think by quitting drinking you will have one less thing on that plate of yours.

Here for you poppykin!

Poppy,

Welcome to our support community.  Thank you for being honest and for sharing with us. Think about who you could talk to for advice or support. It’s important to find someone that you can talk to while you make changes to your drinking. Consider friends, relatives, professionals in your community, your health care professional, a favourite teacher or profession, a respected colleague, a church leader – or anyone who you can trust and wants you to succeed.  This can assist you with your situation.  Professionals who are trained in addictions counselling can help you achieve your goal. They are trained to listen without judging and help you understand what’s happening with your body and your emotions. They can also put you in touch with other resources.

Posting with us is essential as there are many members that do know what you are going through. They can also share their knowledge and experiences with you.  We are here to help, listen and assist.  So take the time to talk to us.

This was a great first step!

Hi,
I decided 4 wks ago to quit drinking and smoking. The reason I decided to do this is because I don't want to live in hell any more. I was also fedup feeling unwell, tired and lost. Two weeks after I quit, I found out I was pregnant. I lost it last saturday. I was very sad and I cried for several days. This was unexpected and I have two children. My son is eleven and my little girl is three. My son has special needs. He has autism and ADHD. If I have to be honest, this is the reason why I started to drink. My son is wonderful but he needs a lot of support and help. I find it difficult to manage my stress levels.
The reason I have decided to register is because I am scared that I will start drinking again and I dont want that for anyone. I want my family to be happy and enjoy life and I know they need me to be there for them without a hangover and a drink in my hand.

Thank you for reading my message
