Welcome Mama K,

I am so sorry to hear about your grandson. I am glad you were able to use this extremely difficult situation to push you to quit smoking. It seems like chantix helped you last time you quit. Will you be using it to help this time? I want to caution you on using an e-cigarette. They are not proven effective to help people quit smoking and for many it can make quitting smoking more difficult. It is also unclear what negative impact an e-cigarette can have on your health as they are currently not regulated. I encourage you to talk to your doctor about other options that are proven to help.

It`s amazing you have already made it over two weeks. Congratulations! It has been a few days since you posted last. How are you doing today?

Hi Mama K,
Welcome to the Stop Smoking Center. Wow, 2 weeks quit already...way to go!!!  I'm sorry to hear about your grandson too. I hope it is a curable cancer.  You quit but hubby still smokes, and in the house too. You sure are being tested for your resolve right now between him and your grandson. Hang in there, as you know, smoking does you no good at all, and as you also found out, there is NO SUCH THING as "just one". Are you still vaping? If so, are planning on giving that up to shortly? Since you have been able to quit in the past, you pretty much know what to expect. I wish you the best on your journey. Keep us updated on your progress okay?
Stay strong  Mama K.

Im so sorry about your grandson. I hope he gets well very soon. You must be going through a very rough time so very well done for making 2 weeks. Its not an easy thing and youve survived the hardest part....now its just a matter of continuing what youre doing. Youre very strong and detremined to be able to do this with your husband smoking near you. It cant be easy. Maybe you will inspire him to quit also.  As you know the first couple of weeks is the hardest and you made it. Give yourself a reward. Im mid way through my second week and l know that the thoughts of smoking linger but in time they will fade. Youve got 2 big pluses on your side - youre educated about this and youve done it before so you know you can do it again.

Hi. Today is two weeks since my last cigarette. It is very hard living with a husband who smokes and even worse, smokes in the house. I have so many reasons to quit after smoking 2 packs a day for the last 35 years. The main one is my 9 year old grandson was diagnosed with cancer. This is the most difficult challange I have ever gone through. I am a EMT-I in school to complete my RN.I have worked in health care for 35 years. I know all the health dangers and all the science. I am what I call myself an educated smoker. I quit before for a year and a half using chantix. I then had a life experience that I falsely told myself I could just smoke for a couple days... Then a few years later... on 2/23/19 I bought a vapor. I have not smoked a single cigarette since. I am determined to never smoke again. I am hoping to find support to stay quit here. Thank you.
