Hi Jeffb2333,

Congratulations on over 23 days now! It sounds like you are really ready to quit. Being truly ready is awesome and it takes many people awhile to get there. So give yourself lots of credit.

I advise you not to use the vape, even when you are craving. You are reinforcing that you need nicotine to calm yourself down. Also e-cigs have proven not to be helpful in helping people to quit smoking. I encourage you to talk to your doctor about different options available to you. In the end though, do what you feel is working.

Dreams of cheating is so common while quitting. If you do a keyword search of the program you will see lots of other members talk about it. The dreams subside the longer you have quit. I like to look at them as a little reminder that the addiction is trying to convince you back to smoking. How did you feel after the dream? If you felt relief that you didn't quit then remember that feeling. Use those dreams to keep you motivated.

Hi Jeff, I'm on day 35 here myself - and the first part of your post really spoke my language :)  Money was absolutely my #1 motivator in wanting to quit (although my motives have expanded by now), and I am also 35, and I also vaped. I vaped a high-nicotine juice for around 3 years when I didn't want to smoke anymore, but I also didn't want to quit smoking lol.  I eventually went back to cigarettes when I tried to quit the vape :/ It seems to be working better for you than it did for me, especially since you are now switching to no-nic juice.  I wanted to be motivated by my health - I am a very health-conscious person and felt I *should* be motivated by the harmful effects of smoking - but the truth was I simply didn't care.  I cared about the money.  Sure I was embarrassed to finished a race and light a smoke at the finish line, but thoughts of improved times or better lung capacity, or avoiding cancer or emphysema.... it just wasn't immediate enough to motivate me.  But handing over $13 every few days sucked, every time.  And it was easy and tangible to do the math for how much that adds up to on an annual basis.

It's nice to feel *done* with smoking, eh?  I feel done.  I'm tired. I'm surrendering and joining the winning team :)

Hi guys, I am 35 and have been smoking for over 22 years. I have quit a million times but the difference between then and now is that I really plan to never smoke again this time. Many of you can probably relate that even though it shouldn’t be the reason, money is a big reason many of us want to quit. It should be the health risk, what it does to our appearance, how we smell. But some of us it’s the money. In the past I was never ready to never smoke again, so I considered myself to have quit and be smoke free as long as I was not buying packs. That obviously led to me inevitably going back to smoking quickly every time. Finally this time I am ready to never smoke another cigarette. I love checking my app in the morning to show me one more day smoke free. I started with nicotine lozenges on day one but they made me nauseous. I am also using a vape with low amounts of nicotine. So I have stuck with that. In 3 weeks I now do not reach for the vape when I wake up in the morning and I don’t use it till I get in the car and head to work. Today I went and bought vape juice with no nicotine so I can finally get it all of that out of my system. After all of these times of trying it’s hard not to beat yourself up and say I should have done this years ago. But I didn’t and I am here today. I feel great about my choice. Some things I am using to motivate myself. Whitening my teeth Wearing cologne again Cleaned and detailed my car Told everyone that I quit so I will be too embarrassed to go back Starting to work out again Eating WAY too many sweets (maybe not the best coping tool) We are all different and what are triggers are but we can all relate to each others journeys. I just wanted to share my story and give some people who might be just getting started some motivation. I feel better than I have in years! I do have moments where I feel anxious and angry. I try to breath, relax and worst case got hit the vape. One thing I have noticed is that I sleep better but my dreams are vivid and I have had a few where I was smoking in my dream and woke up upset that I cheated. But then was happy to wake up and realize i did not smoke. Whew. Anyone else experience that?
