Help please - Chantix & the patch

6 years ago 0 12 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I've done a lot of research on Chantix. I've known people to use it effectively. The consensus is that you don't need the patch with it. Also, according to their site, as Tim brought up, it doesn't sound like a great idea. 2nd opinion for sure.

The side effects listed and from friend's stories keep me away from Chantix, but I also have a thing about panic attacks and drugs. I avoid them unless 100% necessary. But, that said, I do know people who didn't have reactions and found it to be the thing that helped them get through to the other side of this fight.

I, myself, have done cold turkey before, but I was pregnant and that just made it easy. It wasn't me. It was a living creature that depended on me. However, when it was me again, I slipped back. This time, I caved and bought NRT. Not far along here, but making it.

Hi Pmos,
I do not know anything about Chantix so I went to their website to learn about it. This is copied directly from their website: " It is not known if CHANTIX is safe and effective when used with other stop smoking medicines. You should not use CHANTIX while using other medicines to stop smoking. Using CHANTIX with a nicotine patch may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, and tiredness to happen more often than if you just use a nicotine patch alone. Tell your healthcare provider if you use other treatments to quit smoking.".
I agree with Machiavelli, get a second opinion 1st. He's stronger than me and quit cold turkey, I used the patch.  Whatever works!
Stay strong.

I think you should see another doctor for second opinion and in my humble opinion you don't need to patch if you will using chantix cuz that's doesn't make sense ..any way I quit cold turkey SO I hope someone correct me if I am wrong.

If I understand the way chantix works, it blocks nicotene receptors. Why would a Dr. say using chantix & patches at the same time,  be OK? Wouldn't that just be dumping nicotene in your body for no reason?
