30 years old and terrified

Hi Niko22,

I am sorry to read you have been so worried. I want you to rest assured that people who stop smoking by 35 lower their chances of an early death to the same level as someone who has never smoked.

Hello,
I'm really awful at introducing myself as I am a very shy person. I'm 30 year old male named Niko who has been fairly smoke free for the past 5 or 6 years. I am here today because I never want to slip again, but also because I am terrified of what I did to my body as a young 20 year old college student.

I started smoking at the age of 19 in 2007 and smoked until very regularly until March of 2010. After that point I could go months without a smoke, maybe have 1 every four months or so, with an occasional party night were i would have 3-4. However, after about 3 years of that, I stopped smoking all together and went 3 full years without having a smoke. I slipped up last year in November while partying in Japan where I lived for 6 months. During my time in Japan, I think I had a total of 6 smokes. After coming home I went another 6 months or so without it, slipped up at a party and had 1. I then slipped up while drunk at a party in November and had another 1. Lastly I slipped up on March 9, you guessed it, while drunk. This slip was a bit different for some reason, it made me paranoid beyond comprehension. I have not been sleeping well, for the past 3 days because I am constantly thinking about my health and how I hate myself for what I've done. I'm worried to the point of almost constant nausea. I'm terrified that I have condemded myself to an early grave because I was a stupid young adult. I am here to vow to never slip again, but I'm scared its too late.
Sorry for the long intro, but I really needed to get that off my chest. It actually did help a little.
