Downside & Upside

Thanks everyone for your replies. Yes - I've been searching for that post and I do think it's been deleted. I didn't get any notification, but I suspect it was deleted because we discussed the sharing of personal info re: your psychologist's name, or our email addresses? I haven't read all the info that just came out on the new site which will be up on Monday, but maybe we will be able to exchange that info thru the instant messaging function? I really found the Seriane useful when I was feeling the physical symptoms of anxiety - I don't think it would stop a full blown panic attack, but I took them when I felt the precursors to panic - the tightness in the chest, the difficulty breathing, the starting-to-race thoughts, and they really calmed me down. I've never been one for alternative medicine, so I don't think they worked just because I thought they would (if anything I'm the world's biggest skeptic), but they workded quite well for me. And they indicate zero side effects and zero dependencies - they are just made from milk proteins. The Bvitamins help too, but I don't take them everyday - 3 times a week usually, to help keep stress at bay. I don't think of them as cures, but as weapons in my arsenal - along with determination, CBT and exposure planning, improving my physical health, etc. Caitlin

Wow, sounds like your taking every step possible to conquer this. Way to go :) It seems to me that your 'therapists & meds' post has been deleted...? :confuse: Did you get any notification that is was deleted?

Hey Caitlin! If you were having a stroke, you would have more than just pains. You would also have confusion, clumsiness, slurred speech, extreme stabbing headache, drooping face, and of course the aches and pains on one side of your body. Since you are having the aches and pains but nothing else, I would say it's just from muscle tension. Try doing a lot of stretching. At least 10 minutes a day or even a few minutes every now and again throughout the day. It will help. Also, try not to obsess about it. I know the more I obsess about a symptom, the more it happens and the worse it is. You'll be ok! I know it was distressing for you, but thanks for the story about the shopping cart and the lady ahead of you. It made me laugh! ;p

Ok, so on the downside I had a wee bit of a panic attack in the grocery store yesterday, made my way thru it. Was so busy trying to distract myself that I didn't notice I was shoving my cart into the lady ahead of me in line. She did not look amused!! Also on the downside, was (and still am) convinced that I'm having stroke symptoms... pain in my jaw/face and arm on my left side, headache, nausea. I know I know, just to be safe I should and will see my doctor, but I'm wondering if others here have had this fear and these symptoms? I think it's just the muscle tension that I've had on my left side recently, but it's really a consuming fear right now, stroke is so terrifying. On the upside, I walked into my local gym and signed up. Starting Monday, wish me luck - if that's not a prime location to trigger my panic I don't know what is, but I need to lose weight and feel healthier, and that in turn should reduce my anxiety... Also on the upside I went to my local natural foods/remedies store and they suggested a Bcomplex plus a B12, and a homeopathic stress reliever called Seriane which I have taken for 2 days and instantly relieved my anxiety and relaxed me - I took it when I felt so anxious that an attack seemed imminent. If anyone else has tried this remedy, let me know how it worked out. Caitlin
