Need a Quit Buddy

Welcome NOPE-TK,

Congrats on getting started. It sounds like you are off to a great start.

It is surprising that your husband hasn't noticed. I also find it surprising that you have not been bragging about your success. You deserve a bit of a brag I think

Thanks for the words of encouragement Gary. It is strange but I do not feel like I am going through hell like you did. MW - How is day 5 going? I strongly recommend that you read Allen Carr's book. I cannot say for sure that is why this seems to be going well (or better than originally expected) but still worth a read. I can tell you that I think about smoking a lot but I do not feel like I am going to give in - I know I do not want to smoke so why would I? My biggest concern is weight gain. I few years ago I lost quite a bit of weight and I do not want to regain it. My husband (who still has not noticed by the way) is onboard with healthy eating so it is not hard to stay on track. Let's get to know each other so we can support each other. I am 45 and live in Michigan. I have a 17 year old son that is home from boarding school for the holiday. He was smoking as well and is smoke-free and said he is proud of me for quitting. Kind of cool. I am an executive recruiter and work from home mostly and spend a ton of time on the phone - this is when I would light up all the time. When I get on the phone I still think about smoking but then pat myself on the back that I can talk on the phone without smoking! All - we would welcome another smoke buddy!

Good morning, Nope-TK & MW

I would like to help encourage the both of you on your quit. I'm at the 10 month mark and in my first couple of weeks I went through hell all the way up until the three month mark. my best words of advice are that you can't do this for anyone else, not your husband or your kids. This can only be done for yourself and you must be 100% determined to be successful this will probably be the hardest thing that you have done in your life. but the rewards will be to many to count hang in there it will get easer and you can do this.

I'm with you, I quit Monday at 7pm. So I'm at 3 days, 19 hours and 34 minutes... but who's counting? I'm using an ecig... kind of feels like cheating, but this is the closest to believing I could do it that I've been in 14 years. For the first time I don't feel like I'm TRYING to quit, I feel like I'm quitting. I was with my BF (who's also a smoker) when I had my last one and I tried to have a moment of... silence?... whatever, a moment to enjoy my last one - he didn't get it, just kept chatting away about whatever he was talking about. So it's not just your husband, I hear you!

Hello all. I am glad to find this site. I quit cold turkey on Sunday, 11/15th and I am looking for a quit buddy that is at a similar stage of this journey. Anybody interested? TK P.S. My husband (who does not smoke) has not even noticed after years of b$tching at me? What's up with that? It really bothers me.
