Hey LT!!!

Hang in there! I have had a couple of good SSC friends go through the same thing that you are going through after they quit smoking and come out smelling like a rose!!!

All the best for your quit. Keep up your good work. I'm sure your depression will go too. Try using all the positive feelings you get from quitting to help you fight your depression. If you can stop smoking you can do anything. John

I'm not using antidepressants to quit smoking. I'm using them because I have major depression. But I remember hearing that Wellbutrin can be used for people who are quitting smoking, so I figured somebody here might have some advice if they'd used it before.

The hallucinations have stopped, thank goodness!!! :-D

Drugs from wellbutrins class can cause hallucinations. usually they are short lived. As far as I know wellbutrin is used as a mood stabilizer and gives people that little push they need to kick the final stages of depression. My personal opinion is that anti depressants should not be used to help one quit smoking. Anxiolytics could be used for a short period of time depending on the patient.

I guess they were short lived as the past 2 nights I've been OK. Maybe I just needed some time to adjust.

Hallucinations would be considered a series side effect and due to the nature of the drug I would call your doctor or talk to a pharmacist as soon as you get the chance.

Keep us updated on how you are feeling. It sounds like you are having a really rough go these last few days. Know we are all behind you and we are always here to listen.

Anybody here use Wellbutrin to help quit smoking or otherwise? I was just prescribed it as another antidepressant, and had my first one yesterday morning (5:30 a.m.). By the time I went to bed at 9:30 p.m., I had the worst dream-hallucinations ever. I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking that the things that were happening in my mind (while I wasn't even sleeping yet) were really happening to me. Then I'd wake up, and it would start over again, regardless of whether or not I'd try deep breathing, meditation, or any other mindfulness coping mechanism.

I had to take another medication, which I hate doing. I never used to have problems sleeping before I was prescribed my cocktail of antidepressants.

Eventually I'm going to have to take one first thing in the morning and a second pill at noon. I'm worried then it'll get worse.

Just wondering if anybody here had some advice for getting through that. Does it ever go away?
