Well done, you have made excellent progress and the cleaning of the house was indeed money well spent.  There is nothing like putting our money down on our dreams, it kind of makes the commitment a bit more real.  Yes there will be ups and downs.  Your body is adjusting to a new way of life.  But the good news is that you where not always a smoker.  So in a sense, you are getting the opportunity to turn back time.  How often does that come along?  You are getting a second chance to get it right.

That was one thing that always kept me going.  Appreciating the things we have is really important and right now you have a wonderful opportunity.  I know it is difficult and you will want to turn back from time to time, but I can tell you that there is nothing to turn back to.  Just keep moving forward, come here often and post your feelings, you will find that there are many here who share your struggle...And it is in the sharing that we find we are not alone...

stay well

Hi Tree Lover and yay for you and your quit! Getting bad smells out of your house sounds like a great reward, too.

Yes, there are ups and downs, but it does get easier and easier as time goes on. Let us know if you need anything.

TreeLover,

Welcome and thank you for sharing with us. Preparation is key and you have nailed it!

Keep using support and coping mechanisms to get you through each day. If you are ready for anything, craves and triggers should be no problem.

We are here to assist you, so post often and let us guide you and support you!

Hi Treelover,
I used the patch to quit too and it worked great for me.  It took care of the physical part and let me concentrate on the mental part, which seemed to be the hardest part in my opinion. Feels good to take in a deep breath of fresh air now huh?  Things will only get better for you now. The struggle might be tough at times, but it will get easier as time goes by. Watch out for all of the triggers and hang tough. Oh and welcome to the SCC! There are a lot of good people on here that will help support you on your journey if you let them.
Hang in there...

Hi,

I am new to the group and appreciate being here.  I believe I prepared well for quitting and feel completely resolved that I am an ex-smoker now.  But I am having a rough day today with stress and feeling down.  Two days ago I woke up and felt absolutely great though so I expect I will have ups and downs as I go through the detoxing and change of habit.  Everything is sort of all new, isn't it?

After one week I treated myself to a thorough housecleaning and paid a service for that and it was money well spent!  I love my place now and it smells fresh and wonderful - and I can tell because I smell everything now!

I'm wearing the nicoderm patch phase 1 and tonight I'm going to take it off for night time so that I will be wearing it 16 hours.  I think it's interfering with sleep a bit.

Glad to be here and glad to be smoke-free!  Plus I posted the day before I quit on facebook and got tons of support the last two weeks from friends and family. Going public also really helps me keep my commitment but it will be nice to be here and lend support and get some support here and there.
Cheers!
