Dear Sticking to it,

What a huge anniversary!  Congratulations!!  I hope you have an appropriate reward organised for such a great event!

I could add lots more things to your list, but, you know what?...........I think that most smokers except the young, who think they are invincible, know what dangers smoking brings, but, as I did, they choose to ignore it until it is too late.  I wish there was some way to let these people know what we know, and that is that quitting is easier than we realise, and that we need to do it earlier than later to reap the benefits fully!

It's good to share this anniversary with you, sticking to it! Today, I have completed my first year of being smoke free! This time last year I was pumping my lungs full of as much tobacco that my body would cope with. The anxiety was high, I knew it was my last chance, but guess what I did it. It is possible for everyone, so if your reading this and wondering, go for it. Love Viv Xxx

I haven't forgotten my anniversary as it is a day of reflection.  As I look back on years gone by I am reminded of just what it was like to be a smoking jack: a  burn hole or two on the inside door panel, the carpet and car seat of my car, the unlit cigarette in hand -  buddy can you spare a match, late evening marches to the store after finding that my carton had no more, the sting of the smoke getting into my eye, the yellow teeth and fingers, the persistent cough and the wondering if cancer or emphysema might be in store. I could go on adding more irritants and harmful effects that come with the smoking stick however I ask you to add some of your own here for us to ponder.

But no more, for I have quit and remain in quit mode for 8 years; not unlik others who have come before me.  It is what we can do.  It is what we should do.  Each minute, hour and day that passes with missed instinctive reactions to lit up, has the accumulative effect of making your quit a  success.

Have a super smoke free New Year

Stickin to it
