Hey Determinator!!!

Great feedback!  That's one of the things that makes this site work for everyone!  Helping others is how we all kick nasty nico-demon ash!

Hi Amy,

Get on this site daily or multiple times a day if needed... it has helped me tremendously in my QUITTING CIGS !!  You defineltly need some weapons to go to battle with (Crave Basket). During my first week I chose anything that made me happy like smoking did !! Hard candies, chocolate candies, chips, root beer, chewed on straws... really anything that made me feel good JUST NOT A CIG !! I know a lot of people say eat healthy stuff, but during that first week I didn't care about healthy... ITS ONE WEEK of eating junk... this might not be the best advice, but it really did work for me. This week all I am doing is chewing sugar free gum and working out and doing sprints to take off any weight I put on last week. No big deal really... the main thing is DONT SMOKE. Its getting better and better everyday and theres a whole smoke free world out there to experience and things to do that you would not have done being a smoker !! Im saying this as this is all new to me as well.... Stay head strong and DONT LET IT BEAT YOU !! You can do this !  Preperation is key !!   EVERYONE ON THIS SITE IS AWESOME AND WILL KEEP YOU MOTIVATED and INSPIRED TO MOVE FORWARD !!!

Hey Amy!!!

Welcome back!!!  We're all rooting for you, buddy!  If you haven't already done so, you might want to read through the program to pick up some tasty tid-bits of information you may have forgotten.  Be sure to get a good crave basket ready and maybe update your list of reasons for quitting, if needed!  Stick close, read and learn and kick that nico-demon's ash!    You CAN do this, Amy!!!

Ditto from me to what everyone else is saying.

Take one day at a time, and whatever it takes, just don't smoke!

Well Done pg!

Certainly helping others will help you with your quit but it may still be difficult for you early on and it may be that you need the help more than most. That's why we are here - the army of supporting souls may have been depleted over time but those that remain will try to advise and support you as best they can.

For now, for you, don't look too far ahead. Quit by the day, or by the hour, or by the minute if necessary and just remember one thing, no matter how tough it may become; NOPE -Not One Puff EVER!!

You WILL succeed if that is what you really want.

Good Luck,
Penitent

Hi pruettsgirl,

Congratulations on your decision to quit. It looks like you have already worked through the steps in "My Program," too. Hopefully, that helped you to get more mentally ready.

You are correct that helping others also means helping yourself. I've found that most of my pep talks were really about me. Each time I provide encouragement or explain how to get through some hurdle, I am building up my own resistance to temptation. Over the past year or so, this has helped me to keep my quit.

I look forward to hearing from you. There are quite a few active posters here right now who can share stories, information and supportive thoughts. Let us know if you need anything.

I finally made that step.  I quit at 6pm ET. I plan on being on here quite a bit. I figure if I'm focusing on helping other people, then I won't be thinking about my own cravings.  LOL.
