Hey there formyboys2011,

Hang in there. The worst is almost over. The physical cravings will stop within 72 hours of your last cigarette. Remember to keep the fruit juice going, as it will help you to manage your blood sugar levels and flush out the nicotine. (I diluted mine with water, so that I could also drink a lot without raising the blood sugar too high, either.)

Please check in if you need a pep talk.

Hey Formyboys!!!

Congrats on getting those first few days under your belt!  Remember to try to keep a Positive Mental Attitude going as best as you can!  I know you are going through the ringer right now, but keep that positive self talk going... "I CAN do this!"  and "I AM a non-smoker!".  It may be hard, but keep on taking in one day, one minute and one crave at a time!  They say a normal crave only lasts about 3 minutes, so when they hit, chug-a-lug some ice water, have a carrot stick or do some rhythmic deep breathing!  I used to go walk stairs and breath deep with every step!  After a couple flights, my craving was gone.

Another coping mechanism was to log in here and read and post questions or offer support to my quit buddies here!  Misery enjoys company and so to quitters!  That's why we're here!

Hang in there, buddy!  You CAN do this!!!

Hi Formyboys,

I like your determined attitude! It will get you far. Try to avoid suffering too much - this is a long journey - pace yourself. If you feel like it gets to be too talk to your doctor or pharmacist about medications that can help you.

In the mean time, arm yourself with as much information as you can. Read the program, keyword search through the forums and check in here daily. We will help you through this!

to get you thinking, how do you think your life would be different when you quit smoking? How would you be different?

Cold Turkey.

Feel AWFUL...shaky, dizzy spells, exhausted, a little nauseous, just BLAH.

BUT

I want to remember this feeling...because I never, ever want to feel it again...that's why I am doing cold turkey...I want it to hurt.  I want to suffer...because that will be the feeling I will draw on when I am tempted to smoke in the future.  It SUCKS today.  It will SUCK for a few more days, but I WILL DO THIS because I am bigger than a cigarette.  I am a non-smoker now.

Good luck to all of you starting this month.
