I personally don't see how a found helpful feature is needed. I don't feel that my comments should be judged by anyone else? I like the idea of just a simple "thanks". As for an online indicator, I don't see one in the version I'm using, so I guess it doesn't really matter to me.
I like the idea of using the two words Thank you..I like to let other members know that I appreciate that they give of them selves and post here and that it does help other members. Me being one of them...
I also think 30 minutes is plenty of time to advertise that I am online. I personally like to come on sometimes and just work on the program here without advertising that I am here every time that I check in..
Well that's my two cents worth, different strokes for different folks..
I don't know where the online indicator is. I've always been bugged by the fact that i couldn't figure out who was online here. Can someone tell me where to look for that? On another site, it shows who has been active within a certain amount of time, and it's on the bottom of the main page.
I don't experience the term "helpful" as competitive. I think it's more specific than "thank you," which could mean a lot of things to me. In other words, I prefer the "helpful" function. But it wouldn't be a dealbreaker if it switched to "thank you."
Hot Si0, we have received some feedback that the term "Helpful" might be a little judgemental/competitive. As it could be thought that you are judging the post as Helpful or not... We thought we would ask all of you if you felt the same way.
I too like the online indicator in being in real time. That would be great to be able to know when someone you'd like to send a quick message to is actually on.
It's great that y'all are always looking to improve the site! Bravo! I think the wording is fine if you are referring to the 2 lines just below these posts. Personally, I like to know which posts others find "helpful". A "thank you" is always nice to hear, but are the comments really "helpful"? Also, I'm clueless about what are you referring to about the feature being a bit competitive. Could you clue me in?
I've always liked the Online indicator being current. When I first joined, this feature was VERY helpful when your instant chat feature was working. I know several of us contacted each other to chat and provide support because we knew when each other were online on the site. I still try to catch some members with a private message when I see them "pop" online while I am still online and it works at times. Consequently, I would vote to keep the online indicator in real time.
I think either is perfectly appropriate (both issues). I think sometimes we put way too much energy into interpreting specific words rather than lookng a the overall intent.
Nice to see you Cameless! It has been awhile Glad to hear you're still Cameless.
So to be clear you would prefer, "Thank you" instead of "Helpful"? And you would prefer if the Online indicator just indicated if you have been online within the last 30 minutes and not instantaneous?
We need your input on a few of our features. Pleas e let us know your thoughts – your thoughts are very important in shaping the SSC. 1. What are your thoughts on the “Found Helpful” feature? Do you think the wording of this feature is a bit competitive? Would you prefer the wording to be “Thank you” instead?
2. What are your thoughts on the Online/Offline indicator? Do you feel uncomfortable with other members know when you are online? Would you prefer the feature to only indicate if you have been online within the last 30 minutes?
