I know it's hard but know that it will go away. When you feel the panic rising, take a few deep breaths and remind yourself that you're not going to die, you're not going insane, this is just panic and it will go away. Try to distract yourself with something. I've noticed that if I am busy, I don't get anxious, just when I'm sitting around thinking about it. I know you didn't take Paxil, but go to quitpaxil.info/. It has a lot of info about Paxil withdrawals, the symptoms and tips to get through it. Even though you're not going through Paxil withdrawals, I think withdrawals are withdrawals regardless. I hope there's something in there that helps you get through this. Hang in there - you are stronger than you feel - I promise!!

thank you both for your replies. I guess I just have to see this through and hopefully will come out the other side. Feel terrible right now, anxiety levels through the roof, all I want to do is sleep it away and wake up better ! Not going to happen I know, but hard to see the wood from the trees right now.

It happens initially...I was on Effexor for almost 3 months and felt that I was having more panic attacks and my anxiety was very high....the same happened with Celexa...and now I am taking Zoloft...but it takes time for the medication to 'kick in' -- a friend of mine started taking Effexor and is liking it... I hope you are feeling well... Best, B

Hang in there! You can get through it! Even after taking a small dose, your body can go through withdrawals. Withdrawals include panic attacks. I took Paxil for 7 years and it took me six months to wean off it. The withdrawals did not let up until about two months after the last pill. So, in all, I went through withdrawals for about 8 months. It is horrendous but you can do it! Take it easy and hang in there! Since you only took it for a short time, you shouldn't have the withdrawals too long. But, it may last a few days. Just take it easy and remember that it will go away.

I've been on mirtazapine for a year, and over time just stopped being effective. Now trying venlafaxine ( effexor ), only been on it for three days but the panic has set in really bad. I know this is all in my mind, after just three small doses should not really notice any difference. Was very anxious about the change, and thought I would be ill, and now fulfilled my prophesy. I'm trying really hard to get a grip, and tell myself that it really is all in the mind but right now feel quite desperate. Has anyone else gone through the same ? Tried to induce a panic attack to get it over with bit couldn't, don't know what else to do, just feel really nervous, panicky and anxious, with scary thoughts.
