Last night was bad

Hi Alexa,

I am sorry you had a difficult night. Everything you experienced (brain fog, sadness, cravings) are all common during the second week. Remind yourself that this will pass and is all part of the process. Your body is healing and it can be painful.

But not productive? No way! The most productive thing you can do right now is stay away from smoking. It will give the most benefits hands down then any other thing you could do. If you do nothing else for a month other than staying away from smoking then you have had a very productive month! Be easy on yourself and recognize the incredible amount of hard work you are doing.

How can you reward yourself today to recognize your hard work?

Hi Alexa
Great for you to post instead of lighting up!  The advice here before me says it all I think - So I'll just send a big HIGH 5! to you for dealing with the cravings and brain FOG, understanding the addiction and what you need to do to move on!  You're doing great by simply being able to express that.  And just look at JMK go! He's just about got 30 days in now so is close to your quit date - it's nice to read the posts from people at the same stage of quitting; very easy to relate to . . .and the rest of us are here to Cheer you on and remind to reward yourself for your hard work and dedication to making this quit stick!

Hey Alexa!!!

First of all, congrats on making it through HELL WEEK!!!  Major accomplishment!!!  I hope that you rewarded yourself!!!  The first few weeks, you are going to have episodes like this... the fog, constant junkie thinking, etc!  Sometimes the only thing that will help is to hop in bed and sleep it off till the next day!  The next best thing is to think about what it was that triggered all of that!  Consider what you could have done differently, changed a routine, find a distracting activity, etc!

My personal distraction device was coming right here, reading through all the forum topics, adding my thoughts and offering some support to my fellow quit buddies!  I was on here a LOT for the first few months and I am convinced that is a major part of why I was successful!

Stick close, continue to read and learn, keep a big ol' glass of ice water handy and build yourself a little crave basket!  If you need help, log in and let us know what is going on!  We're here to help!

Did I mention that you are doing great???

           Kick ash, Alexa!!!

                   Jim

Alexa yes I have had days like that , I can re call 12 days in the demon came to visit in the afternoon top of @ work , I was like really wtf , it lasted all afternoon head in major FOG! All I wanted was a smoke and a big fat cup of java! I said one will not help if i have one I will want a thousand more, so I tackled the demon. By night time I was fine. You did the right thing do not give in 1 will not help you and you do not want to start all over again! Think I'm at day 29 and it hit me so hard this morning a trigger the demon , but they only last for a short time now! It gets better everyday you dont give in to the demon! TRUST ME IT DOES! STAY STRONG! Cheers jmk

I don't know why it was so hard last night (day 8) but-I came home from work, had a lot I was intending to do and the cravings seemed to really kick into high gear. I tried to focus on what I needed to do, but got overwhelmed and had such a fog in my brain I couldn't seem to focus, wanted a smoke sooo bad, then became very sad and wound up sobbing  Completely non-productive night but...I didn't break so that's something. Have any of you had days like that after you quit? I'm going on vacation Friday and sure am hoping the worst will be over by then!
