Hi Mikek, I am using Chantix and it seems to be working fairly well for me. It does upset your stomach if you don't eat something, and I mean a meal, not a snack, with the pill. The really great thing about Chantix is that you are off the nicotine entirely, no replacement. I like that whole idea of going nicotine free. I hope you do some research on different ways to quit because there are patches, gum, the inhaled thingy, and medications, so the choices are numerous. Find one you like and stick to it. Fight for your life and it will be worth it. DeniseK

Congrats on trying to quit again. This one will stick, i know it! I've tried 4 times to quit and the 4th time i used the Nicotine gum. As far as the gaining weight, use healthy snacks to replace wanting nicotine. Good luck with your quit and keep us posted!

Hello Mikek,

I would recommend checking out milestone 3 of the program. This is a session focused on preparing for withdrawal and there is a sub-category on Quit smoking medical aids and NRTs. Work through this session because it will help prepare yourself for your quit.

Members, what methods worked for you?

I am thinking of going to the biggest loser ranch in Utah during Christmas for a week and quitting smoking at the same time. This is my dilemma. I have stopped many times before with help from nic patches and e-cigs but I always started back when I replaced the cigs with food and gained lots of weight. I tried cold-turkey once and I was out of my mind and could not take it.

Thoughts, quit cold-turkey and go to the ranch or use smoking cessation tools, like the patch, while at the ranch? In either case, I plan to get e-diets meals delivered to my house when I return.

Thank you!
