How have you grown?

Hi Ashley, The most important thing I learned since I joined the SSC is that education is a quiting method. In fact I think it is very hard or near impossible to be successful in the long run (and that's what this all about right?)without educating yourself on the nature of nicotine addiction.

I think it is much easier to get off cigarettes than it is to stay off. You can be staunch and stubborn and refuse to smoke when first quitting but if you are not prepared the nicodemon will get you back. I do not mean you must be forever preoccupied with smoking cessation,  in fact , you will rarely think about cigarette smoking as time goes by. But... times will arrive when all the wrong negative forces are present for you to take a puff and if you are not prepared, not aware of how to resist, your bodies period of healing will come to an end and you may be trapped again maybe this time till death do you part.

William - Free and Healing for One Year, Five Days, 8 Hours and 36 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 45 Days and 3 Hours, by avoiding the use of 12998 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $5,939.08.

Ashley , this is a great topic for sure. Quitting certainly is a journey , it's a lot like growing up.When we first start a day is a long time , then you just want to make it for three days , a week , 2 weeks , 30 days , a month !As we pile up those milestones the physical addiction lessons but we still have to deal with the mental side. That too gets easier as we find ourselves having success in situations that we never dreamed possible when we were highly addicted smokers.
I don't post very often here anymore , but my 1st year or two I gained a lot of strength from the peer pressure of just not smoking to keep the stats piling up.
You new quitters will be successful , it's a great goal and when you win , you will have won a great battle !
God Bless,

Members,

Quitting smoking is a journey. The farther along in your quit you get the more you learn and grow.  The SSC teaches members important aspects of the quit in the program and the support group allows members to share what they have learned with others; so let’s do a little more sharing…

Since you first joined the site how have you grown and what have you learned? It doesn’t matter whether you have joined the site last week of last year, please share.
