Hi folks, I had my last cigarettes on Monday morning (9th January). I had two ciggies left in my ten pack and smoked one before I got on the motorway, and one when I got off. That'll be that then.
I quit drinking 18 months ago (I was too heavily into that) and I figure I can now tackle my other poison.
I have been exercising for over a year now, and have run a couple of 10Ks in the last year. I want to improve my fitness - I feel I have plateau'd and that my breathing and lung-capacity need to improve to keep improving. A half-marathon this year and a full marathon in the next couple of years.
I was not a heavy smoker, having the odd day without cigarettes but probably averaging five a day. Out with the lads, or visiting friends I could smoke many more but I wasn't one of those people who reach for them first thing.
Had a few cravings this last few days, but I'm coping well. I do fear being a bit casual and thinking - ach, one or two won't hurt and I can abstain again. A big day out with the lads this weekend to the rugby - that'll be a challenge. But I'll go to the gym in the morning to remind myself of my main motivation.
