Quitting after 23 years 2 packs a day

12 years ago 0 74 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well, the hardest part was deciding to do it and then actually doing it. I do have craves but mostly it's the habit. I struggle sometimes after 41 years of smoking. I don't know who I am without that noxious smoldering weed stuffed in my face. But I strongly recommend you follow the directions on the box, because the NRT gives you the time to address those habits and face situations with some assistance. So far you have not had too many craves, but you might in the future, so planning out exactly what to do when they occur is a really good idea. See ya around the site, DeniseK

Hey Jim,
Thank you for your advice.
I was trying to do a test run  to check my resistance. I will stick to the instructions and I promise I will never smoke again. I am doing these test runs for the benefits of people who want to take my path.  I had a wonderful day today. I am breathing better and I enjoy life a lot more without the nasty smoke. I spent a couple of hours in the mall shopping and I enjoyed it a lot without leaving the store to smoke. This X- Mass looks like my best ever as far as I remember. Smoke Free feeling is great.

Hey Buddy!

I'd highly recommend sticking with the directions on the box for a while!!!    You're really kicking that nico-demon's ash with them and that is the important thing right now!  Slowly step down as the program recommends and you'll do just great!!!

Wow, It hit me hard but I am on top of it. I decided to do a test run on the patch and see what happens without it. I took my patch OFF to see what happens. I was OK for the first hour and starting the second hour, the craving started. I took it for about 2 hours and it became unbearable. I had a craving for a smoke I never had in my life. I was in the state of mind that I could drive out and buy some. I had a bitter taste in my mouth very nasty taste, I had horrible time. I finally stopped the test after 3 hours. I washed my mouth and got the patch. I am all right now. the craving completely gone after about 10 minutes of having the patch. I feel good again and I am very happy for being smoke free.

Hi Denisek,
Thank you fro your support. I prefer the hot water as well. Nice to meet you here. what was the hardest day for you. So far I did not have that much trouble. It can be the help of CVS patches.

Hi A! Glad you could join us Quitters! Do have an emergency coping plan for the possibility of craves or triggers or desire, etc. It really helps to have written down your plan and to refer to it if times are difficult. Ice water like breather said or I like hot water, but I'm really weird...and often freezing, lol! Tootsie pops, celery, carrots, and/or sugar free gum all help, too. Again, congratulations! DeniseK

Hello SmokeFreeGA and welcome. You're the most important person here. I also smoked a few (thousand) Marlboros back in the day. Day 3 hit me like a ton of bricks. Keep ice water on hand for the craves and hang out with us non smokers. Excellent for you. breather

 Ashley,
Thank you for your email and support.
Today is my second day. I am on top and patch really worked, no craving at all. Plan to go to the Mall for some shopping. It feels great that I do not have to come out of the mall to smoke like a chimney.
