Good work you two, IS and JD
Hope you get down to zero soon!
Hmm...made me think. What is "being" a smoker?
Just someone who smokes I think. Everything else real about you stays the same...only healthier, richer, smelling better, and able to do more things. At least that's my experience. Plus, for me I've been much happier most of the time.

Hey Welcome,

Sounds like you are off to a great start..I cut down yesterday too..from 50 to 15 and today I am down to 6..I have started the 4mg nicorette lozenges this afternoon and am breathing with ease. and my blood pressure it great. I just love thinking of myself as a non-smoker..I am sure people will notice I am a non-smoker but you know what it doesn't matter because I am doing this for me...not them anyway...
Do it for you and your health...Life is so much easier when you can breathe...I don't know if your breathing has become a problem yet and if it hasn't thank your lucky stars you are quiting now..Give yourself a big pat on the back for a job well done today....

Taking it One day at a time..

Welcome I.S. !  Let me suggest that you read through the program here and find all the info you can on nicotine addiction. If you stop putting nicotine into your body you will soon no longer think of yourself as a smoker. The real you, the you, you left behind when you became addicted to nicotine will re-emerge.

Please stay with us I.S. and we will help each other out of this mess we've gotten ourselves into!!

Thanks for posting.

It sounds like you are already off to a great start.  be sure to prepare by reading through the program.  The more information you can arm yourself with the better prepared you will be.  Post often here as we support from fellow quitters will certainly help you to stay motivated.

You mention that you will have to leave the image of being a smoker behind. This is actually a concern for many smoker; who identify themselves as a smoker. What will leaving this image behind mean to you?  What image do you want people to see of you?

Using Quickmist at the moment. Started the day smoking 4 fags before 11am. Been on the spray since then and not had one even though I've had the urge. The spray seems to be working. Yesterday I smoked 6 instead of the usual average of 13 to 15. I'm coming down so I'll aim to at least manage until the end of the day before even considering one. I'm known as a smoker so it's going to be hard to leave that image behind. But I'll do it and people probably won't even notice.
