Sorry bout that... The UPS guy just came.  I PROMISE YOU that if you stick this out the day will come that smoking will merely be a passing thought.  When, for you,  I don't know but it will happen Deb.  I know a lot of people here have missed you.  You wouldn't believe how many messages I received on facebook since last night that you were back here.  Stick around "pretty please" !!

Good morning, I hope you day is going well.  Thank you, at least I know my "slips" helped.  It is more important that you are here with us.  I hesitated on coming here time after time, but I knew I had friends here, just like you, and they would help me not matter what.  I see people getting years now that I started out with, but that is their quit, not mine.  I made the choice to smoke again the they didn't.  I am so happy for each and everyone of them and just as happy to see you and the others coming back and begin the journey again.  For the newcomers, quitting is simple, there are some of us who complicate it.  JUST DON'T SMOKE AND YOU WILL SOON BECOME A NON-SMOKER.

Hi Deb! remember me Karren? So good to see you, and hey, so you hit a few bumps, forget that- you're back and we are all here to support you as always.
You know you'll do it and I know you'll do it too
Lotsa love Karren x

holy cow!

Thank you everyone.  I spent the last half hour trying to figure out how to use the new website!  Is there a time-out feature?????  I feel completely lost, but it seems like the site has been improved a lot.

Dave, I've sooooo missed you and am so glad to see that you are here.  Yeah, sometimes I do need a kick in the pants, and sometimes I just need a shoulder.  Thank you for both you big geek.  And thank you for being the first to respond because that kept me on track.

Tiana, thank you for responding too.  I reread the tools, and honestly, like peteg, I know what to do.  I think each quit teaches me a little more.  This time, I realize that I need to get through each minute without fooling myself, or giving myself an out.  Last year I don't even feel that badly about because I needed some time to deal with bigger issues.  But having dealt with them, I know that I have to get back onboard with not smoking.  I've learned so so much this past year.

Oh my Gosh Sparky!!!!  Of course I remember you!  You have been on my mind so much when I was trying to decide whether to post or not.  I've always admired your quits, and your honesty.  You've allowed those of us that fell to come back.  Along with others.  And although I've been gone, you all have not been far from my mind and I do consider this a family of sorts.  There are lots of people I want to ask about.

I also have to say that today's "quote" made my final decision.  Thank you Moderators.

Deb, you are such a sweetheart and I've missed you too.  It was a hard night.  Hard day too.  There were many times that I wanted to cave.  Weirdly (and has anyone else experienced this?), each time I've tried to quit, the quit symptoms are different.  This time, it's bad.  Maybe that's good because I need to feel how bad it can be.

Hi Charm-- your post cracked me up.  Yes!  I totally know what you meant.  And thank you for your support because I really need it.  I've never made it 6 months.  I'm trying not to feel flawed because I don't think it's productive for me...... but it's hard not to sometimes.  Tell me please about your experience.

And Bee Queen :)

I haven't forgotten about you at all.

I've missed you so much too.  You were and have been such an inspiration to so many.  I was so hoping you were still here, and there you are.  Your post gives me hope.  Again, it was a horrible day and in many ways, your post made me picture something lighter, a being with wings, and it lifted me up and helped me get through.

Rock the best post of all maybe!

I've just pruned the grapes, planted a cherry tree, ollaiberries, and blueberries.  The apple trees are sprouting as well as the mullberry tree.  I also put in a lawn a month ago which I know isn't the best ecological choice, put it's just a small patch with lots of plants falling over it-- hastas, lots of ferns, and our native plants here.  There are Tulips sprouting everywhere.  Wild Turkeys are trying to eat it all, as well as the deer.

You know my distractions.  We share that passion.  I needed to talk about how hard the day and withdrawals are, but it's also nice to focus on something else.  I think that combo is the key to quitting.

I have to be in S.F. next week too.  I'm presenting on depression at a conference.  Ironic.

I hope you and your partner are okay.  I've not kept up but you guys have never left my thoughts.

Smoke free and so grateful for all of your responses.  I feel okay to go to sleep now, and wake up to deal with whatever the day brings.

Deb, welcome back!  So you've run into a few potholes on the road to not smoking.  It can happen to the best of us.  The good news is that you're back on the path!  Post when you are having good days and post when you need a hand!  I'm going to be out in SF next week, so I'll be sending good smoke free vibes to you!

P.S.  How are the gardens doing?  I hope to get my gardens cleaned up over the weekend!  Now to wait until Mother's Day weekend to plant my annuals!

Hi Deb!
Do you remember me?
I think we came to SSC around the same time. It is great to have you back!
And as all our quit buddies say, quitting is one of the hardest things you have ever done. But the great news is that you can do it!
If I can do it, you can too. So you know the drill: lots of ice water, avoid HALT (hungry, angry, lonely or tired).
Popsicles are great too. You are not alone in your quit. We are your quitting buddies, so go ahead and grab our hands!
We can do this together!

Hi Deb, welcome back, even tho, I don't know you from before

My "come back to SSC" was after about 8 years... I was here back in 2001-2002, but only made it a year, then, like you, let "Home Front" get the best of me.

Not This Time.. (N.T.T. , okay, so that doesn't make any sense..)
However, you get the point.. We have to worry about our selves and our quit..
Like Sparky says, it is hard, one of the hardest things I have ever done.

But, just a little over 6 months into this quit.. I FEEL SO GREAT.. IT HAS BEEN SO WORTH IT.

So please, please, please just hang in there with us. We will help all we can.

Not One Puff Ever N.O.P.E.  (yes, now that makes sense.. )

Hello dear Deb & Welcome back!!!

I am so happy that you are giving this a go again. I promise in the end it will be worth all the effort and grief. I wish I had a magic solution or just the right words to tell you how to make the quit easy.

I can just welcome you back + wish you luck, my friend. For me, it was taking one day at a time. Never look too far ahead--just get through each crave and somehow one day (probably a Tuesday LOL)....you get a feeling that you know 'it' is beat. It never gets 'easy'--non-smoking just becomes a way of life. You have to know they ARE NOT your best friend-- + know that, in fact they are your enemy.

Please email or in box or right in the SSC anytime you need support. You can do this!!! If I did it ANYONE can do it.

Welcome back --HUGS XO

Hey Deb, remember me???  The one with the revolving door.  I know how you feel about coming back here after so many attempts, but this is exactly where you belong.  If you don't have support on the home front consider this your home front.  You are early in your quit and you know every excuse in the world will pop its head up.  It is hard, really hard, but you have done this before so you are ahead of the game you know what to expect and what to do.  This is the longest I have stayed smoke free.  In another quit I said I had a year, but truth........there were a couple times I had a puff or two .  But I swear on my grandchildren's lives this has been N.O.P.E. all the way.  You know life is life and sometime it can be a struggle, but smoking will not change anything.  I have a very good reason (?) to smoke if I wanted to and people would understand, but I am not smoking because of it.  Just take it easy one minute at a time and know your "family" is here.

Keep the Quit
Sparky
