Having a bad day!

You're incredible Marbles!  I can only imagine your stress level in your situation, but I admire your resolve to make it through this Quit!  It looks like you have some good support here, with some fellow March Quit buds, and some seasoned travelers to cheer you on too!  I didn't go the Chantix route, so no help there - I just know that, for me it must be NOPE - every other way I've tried to quit's been won by my Junkie!
I'm outta town and off the boards for a few days - so you guy'll all get a break from me for a bit! But wanted to wish you the best in your life Marbles - I hope you stay safe!  It's great that you are making this Quit work in spite of the odds that seem stacked against you.  YAY on your family quit 'chain reaction'!  I hope it chain reacts to mine too!

What great news, Marbles!

You're still a nonsmoker, and now your dad is joining the club!

Yes, it really is that easy. So nice that you figured that out. And isn't chantix wonderful?? I loved that stuff. I used to argue out loud with myself in the beginning..and it worked!

Keep up the good work

One other thing marbles, you will have the odd bad day early on but as time passes it will get easier and easier and the bad days will become fewer.

And with your wonderfully positive attitude, it will be sooner for you than for some!

What a wonderful post marbles! And congratulations on your 22 days!

You must be so happy with your Dad's decision and now with 3 weeks experience you can talk to him and help him through those so important and sometimes very difficult early days. Quitting has unforseen spin-off benefits and here's one of them.

As for you, just keep on keeping on!

Penitent, with you guys checking up on us newbies, it is not possible to slip!

I am going strong. I am finding it much easier than I thought, the fear of quitting is much worse than the quit itself, how funny is that? I understand how lucky I am, and there is no way I am putting this quit to risk.

You know what? Last year this time, my boyfriend (now ex), my brother and his wife, my father and me, we were all smokers. First my boyfriend quit, then my brother and his wife decided to start a family and quit together. I felt I was going to be the only smoker, how pathetic that would be? I gave it a go after them reluctantly with this medicine I heard about, Chantix. I kind of wanted to fail and say 'see, nothing works for me' and smoke happily ever after! Well, that didn't happen, lol.
And yesterday, my father called and told me he quit smoking and it is his first day! it is like a chain reaction, lol!! So happy for him now!

I still have off days but not a big deal. Cravings come and go, junkie in me is talking to me from time to time but it gets easier to ignore her.

Good work, Marbles. I know this is hard. I'm not sure smokers- or anyone for that matter - has the right to tell you how to run your quit. There is a wholistic approach to our program that includes being proud of your days as a new non-smoker, rewarding yourself as motivation, and educating you regarding what to expect at each stage in order to have you be prepared and protect your quit. Tell them to stick that in their pipe and smoke it!

Keep up the good work! Stay strong. I'm proud of you for getting through this tough week.

You know Marbles, I've been thinking a lot about this.
You know what's worse than having a bad day?  A bad hair day!  Now that's enough to keep me locked up inside all day.

I mean, think about it.  You can wait for the craving to pass, but can you really wait for bad hair to pass?  Can you??

You could do what Eya (or whoever it was) did, and go buy a bike.  Then you could stuff your hair inside a helmet all day, but then you'd end up with helmet hair, which is even worse than bad hair, isn't it?

Isn't it all just a matter of perspective and how you look at things?

Thanks for all the replies
I am feeling much better today, much much better.

It is not just about smoking, we all had bad days when we were smoking, didn't we? So smoking doesn't help for sure, but chocolate does help

Aloha, I will try 'how nice' with a polite smile, I am pretty sure it will work!
I don't normally care, I can laugh it off, yesterday was different for some reason.

The best part was, I really really didn't want to smoke at all, I don't think I even had a single craving yesterday, how great is that? (we need a dancing icon)
