Your top 5 reasons for choosing the SSC

I chose it over others, because it was easy to navigate, not cluttered, and cozy. It was not jammed packed with people. That makes a site more intimate. You're likely to get more and more personal attention, even if fewer people log on.

1.   A site made up of real people fighting that same battle of addiction and no longer being alone on this journey.
2.  Great programs to become more aware of the affects and triggers of quitting and the ability to share thoughts,
concerns and support through posts and blogs.
3.  Joy and satisfaction of reaching benchmarks and milestones for myself and celebrating with others.
4.  The realization that it is OK to reward yourself for simple successes and that I Matter.
5.  Dumb luck....I was so strung out and in search of help.  I thankful to each of you for your support in this
     journey!!!

Keep the Quit,

Dave

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

That was a long time ago.  I don't know that I so much chose this site as I was led to it.  I'd decided to quit and figured to use Zyban.  Wanting to know just what I was getting myself into, I searched for "Zyban side effects".  One of the findings was a post on this site.  As it turned out, the post was a fellow saying he was having to quit Zyban because it was making him suicidal.

Anyhow, I looked the site over and that was the proverbial straw.  There were people doing exactly what I was going to do who could help me along; let me know that what was going on with me.  I figured I could have my wife and co-workers keep an eye on me for acting weird from the Zyban.

After making the fatal (for Ol' Nic) decision, I went out to the smoker's patio, lit up a cig (lol), called the doctor and made the appointment, then called my wife and blew her mind.  The rest is almost 42,000 cigarettes not smoked of history.

Thanks Ashley for this post :)  Lainey that is one comprehensive list - awesome reasons of choosing SSC
My 5 reasons are:
1. Information - I believed if I quit long enough to get the nicotine out of my system, I could go back to the occasional smoke & just have a puff once in a while. I found out HERE that ALL successful quitters follow N.O.P.E.  (Not One Puff Ever).
2. People - WOW! The honesty, struggles, success, sharing, tips and genuine concern is incredible.
3. Support - A caring word always finds its way to those who need one, in the quest to remain QUIT for life
4. FREEDOMETER - I love seeing the non smoking stats in black & white. The long time quitters stats are SO inspirational!
5. Programs & Ideas - the ideas/suggestions shared by the moderators and leadership of the long time quitters who remain here to help other newbies quit are well thought out and highly motivational.  Thank you !

1. The site. It was well laid out and easy to negotiate. The moderators were helpful and kind.

2. The people: Here was a group of people from all over the world, and I thought that was fantastic! These people  knew exactly what I was going through, how I was feeling, and what I needed to do to get the job done.

3. The information: The site is full of all kinds of helpful information. I read a ton of posts to help me prepare for my quit. And it is still here, with posts being bumped up all the time.

4. Quit Buddies: A couple of close quit buddies really helped me along in my quit, plus a group of us that all quit the same month stuck together, we had fun and it made it alot more enjoyable than quitting on your own.

5.The support. Quitters who have done it, know how hard it is, know the ins and outs and how easy it is to fall. They are here who thick and thin. I also learned that by helping others, you help yourself. By giving others support, you give to yourself.

I owe it all to this site. I don't know of I could have done it alone. I am so very grateful I found this place! SSC Rocks!
