Hell Week Day 4-5

13 years ago 0 206 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Oh great, Forcemac, thanks!  Coming up to Day 5 myself, and now I see what I have to look forward to! "Excuse me, Madame.  I won't breathe disgusting stale smoke air on you, but by your leave, I may drip snot all over your lovely cashmere."  Cool!  The rewards of quitting get better every day!  Can't wait to see what Day 10 has in store for me!  May the adventure never end....

Hey Forcemac!!!

You're doing great so far!  Talk about runny nose...  Seems like the same thing happened to me when I quit!  Back in my youth, I had allergies in the spring and fall, but they really didn't seem to bother me much as a smoker!  Once I quit, my spring allergies fired up again and it is even worse now during the fall ragweed season!  My theory is that all of spores that I was allergic to couldn't get through all of the tar and other nasties that coated the inside of my sinuses and lungs when I was a smoker!!!

I'll gladly take the suffering of the allergies over the addiction to those stinky cancer sticks!

Keep on plugging along, buddy!  Freedom is right around the corner!

Hi Forcemac,

Congrats on your quit and your hike!  Sounds like a lot of fun!  Its funny that you mention the runny nose because I actually have a really dry nose and thinks its really wierd.  I have a ctually developed hayfever (its Spring here atm) and Im wierdly kinda happy about this because my nose is not so dry atm.  Very bizzare because I was expecting to have a runny nose like you!  I feel cheated (hahaha).

Anyhow,  you're doing great  and if you just continue to remind yourself of the reasons you quit to begin with, drink lots of water, breath and be kind to yourself, you will make it through your vacation with your smoking friends.  Hey...at least you'll have more money then them to spend on your holiday! Enjoy!

Forcemac, you're doing great!  And isn't it a wonderful feeling to go hiking without being out of breath except for just a little bit???  Give it another couple weeks and you'll be able to hike everywhere without being out of breath!  As for your change of mood, give that another couple weeks too.  Your body is changing for the good, so this is just a little temporary inconvenience!  You're almost done with Hell Week!!!

Hi Forcemac,

You are correct about what is happening to your body. Maybe you've been doing your readings??

Good work on the hike! Other physical activities like that might be a good strategy for dealing with your upcoming 'dangerous' time. You might want to review the Emergency Coping Plan in the program. It's good to plan ahead! Can you enlist the help of those you will be vacationing with??

Good luck with Day 6!

Hello everybody,

I made it no problem through day 4 but did accuire a new issue.....the nasty runny nose, I think it might be my lungs/sinus cleaning itself of tar and other nasties....anyway the gross stuff that showed up on the tissue reminded me how I have been damaging myself. Cravings were just as bad as the first day.

Now I am on Day 5....only had the nasty runny nose in the morning...my family decided to go on a hike in the woods....this was my first hike in months,!!! I felt GREAT not even that out of breath...well maybe a little. I feel bad for my family because I have been a little irritable but very hyper...the thing is I am a really laid back guy..so being hyper is NOT me, I think I will easily make it through my family visit without smoking, but my next task is the ol' vacation w/smokers for a week...ahhhhh I'm doing good but danger is ahead.
