Day 10 feeling strong

Welcome Meatpies....way to go on your 10 days.  You think you will quit counting, but knowing the number and being proud of the number...keeps the attitude and keeps the quit in check.  What I'm on day 605 or something.  See I'm still counting, but it does help having the counter this site comes with.  Like I have said and will keep saying....I LOVE THIS SITE FOR GETTING ME THROUGH MY QUIT.  The people here are so real and so helpful.  Keep coming back everyday and using the tools this site has for you to use.  This was my first real quit and it worked because of this site and the awsome members.  Don't forget to reward yourself.  Keep up the great work.

Thankyou to all those whom welcomed me.  In reply to Samantha's questions I found filling in all of my program doing all the "Milestone sections" gets you to think about the patterns of your own smoking behaviour and what you can do instead.  The general information around drinking water, exercising and breathing deeply all helps as alternatives and are more sensible choices rather than overeating or drinking alcohol etc.  Reading other peoples profiles and seeing how others stay successful and positive in their personal quit journey is uplifting knowing others can and are doing it.  So again thankyou for your support and welcome.  Day 11 for me and i'm doing OK, not even really thinking about cigarettes much and in the last 48 hours I have had some stress, but I haven't given into the addict in me, which is very positive.

Hello meatpies,

Welcome to our online support community and thank you for introducing yourself and sharing a little bit about your story with us. Congratulations on 10 smoke-free days! Continue counting the days if it helps you, go for it! Take what you have learned from your previous quit to help you make this one stick. Use what worked for you and prepare for moments of weakness and temptation. Work through the program! The milestones offer great tools to prepare for quitting and also to help you along the way during your quit. Post often, there are many people here who share the same experiences or have the same questions as you. Check in and let us know how you are doing so we can continue to cheer you on!

Also, which sections of the program have you found most helpful to you? What information did you find particularly helpful? What sections of the program do you recommend other members check out?

Hi All
this is day 10 for me and although I don't want to keep counting the days.............I'll do it for a little bit at least till after week 3.  I've done this before, cold turkey, a fair while ago and I did it for about 3 years.  I let my addictive brain win and allowed myself to smoke due to anger and stress.  Well I know I can live life without cigarettes and cigarettes do not help with anger or stress smoking just offers a distraction, you don't have to deal with emotions whilst you choke on a smoke.  It's been interesting to be on this site and learn about the addict (the little voice inside my head saying do it, just a puff, just 1).  That is not going to work this time, I'm over starting over its much to hard to find that "I'm going to do this" mind set....... can take far too long.  This time I'm using patches and so far, it has been a relatively easy journey, coupled with the information on this site, reading other peoples stories, and using my coping plan and saying NOPE to the addict, I am quite proud of myself so far. Cheers.
