Brenda,
You have no clue how much that last line you wrote meant to me. I was sitting here near tears having one of the worst cravings that I have had since I quit and your words pulled me out of it.

I was so scared that things would never get easier and that I would be walking around for the rest of my life battling this.

Thank you so much and may God richly bless you!

Hi Susie,
Thirty hours feels like a lifetime doesn't it? If the cravings stayed as intense as they are for you right now, I know I couldn't have continued  this. The longer we quit, the less we crave, the less we even think about smoking, till we reach a point when going back is the last thing we want to do.Smoking stinks!
You can do this! Stick with the SSC!
All the best!

Hi Hopeful,

Congratulations on making it through the first day of your quit! Be very proud of yourself for staying strong!

Good motivation will carry you the farthest toward a successful quit. In great motivation you have a clear set of 4 things:
      1. Why you want to quit,
      2. What rewards you can get from quitting,
      3. Plans to deal with the barriers to quitting and staying  quit,
      4. Confidence to go for it and hang in until you make it.

Remember, quitting is a process that happens over time. You only have to take the first step right now.  Work through the program and pay particular attention to milestone 4, here you will learn about coping mechanisms that can help you fight off the cravings.

You can also use the cravings diary to track your cravings and also your progress and how you achieved it. Which sections of the program have been most helpful to you? How will you use the coping mechanisms learned in milestone 4?

Stay strong and post often!

I know that doesnt sound like much but for me that is a huge victory!!! I have never made it this far before! Like I said I am on Chantix 1/2 dose and nicotine patches. I am doing well. I feel like my cravings are on kinda a rollercoaster. But so far there has not been a craving I could not over come! The only two symptoms that I have had that have been worrisome to me are I am constantly feeling like I am breaking out in cold sweats and last night I had a hard time getting to sleep and had the worst cravings that I have had yet. I felt like every inch of my body was aching for a cigarette but I made it through!!!!!!!!
I was really worried that when I woke it would be very hard due to the fact that my morning cigarette is my favorite but I was fine! Changing my routine has helped!
My husband is quitting with me also and he is going back to work tommorow so I am a little scared to be alone all day.
My only question and something I am worried about is, Will I feel like this forever always craving a cigarette??? I have had people tell me that they tried to quit in the past and when I asked them when they stopped craving them all the time they said never and that scares me.

Thank you everyone!

Susie
