Congrats Rock! Fifty pounds are a whole, whole lot. I too have also lost weight--30 pounds since May 1st. Steelroots, the weight gain is not the trading of one addiction for another. Our metabolisms actually change when we quit smoking. Gaining 8-10 pounds is normal and, as you can see, eating can be a temporary tool for managing nicotine cravings. I think that yes it is okay for everyone to watch their wight, but taking on too much can set people up for failure when it comes to all things. In 12 Step Program, we're told one day at a time, one thing at a time and preferably one year at a time.
