Gimm I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about your brother. This is not the first time I hear about someone being smoke free for four or five years and then be diagnozed with Cancer. It makes you wonder if when you stop smoking does the cancer cell start growing? Thinking of you and your family and my prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear about your brother, along with the others that have commented, I to will keep you, brother and family in my thoughts and prayers. God is the Great Physician and can intervene in this situation.
Do you know if the Dr. has talked to your brother about AAT. My sister stopped smoking 11 years ago and 2 years ago having major breathing and respiratory and a spot on her lung. She was in hospital several weeks and tons of test. AAT (Alpha 1 antitripsine(?)) was the diagnosis. It's not from smoking but genetic and has alot of the same symptoms as COPD etc. She has to have blood plasma infusion like treatment every week for the rest of her life but she is beginning to shows signs of improvement after 6 months of treatment.
It may be worth checking or considering if your brother is going to have a treatment plan.
Please keep us posted on his status and how you are doing while this devastating news is settling/sinking in for all of you. As the others said, please post and let us know how we can encourage you.

Gimm, I am so sorry to hear the news about your brother. I hope all will be OK. There are so many advancements in today's medicine, so, especially since he had a clean xray not too long ago, that means they can catch this thing early on. Be strong. For both you and him. You both will be in my prayers.
Keep the quit
