Smoking in cars

13 years ago 0 242 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well I don't think anybody should be charged for smoking in their car with their own children.

But as a parent shame on you if you do smoke in your car with your children or in the house, especially with all the education we have on second hand smoking.

Smokers should always respect the non-smokers and never never smoke beside them. Its just like when somebody has gas we don't want them farting beside us it stinks and so does cigarettes.  So smokers should always respect the non-smokers.

As bad as it is to subject non smokers to the fumes, it's none of the government's business what you do in your personal space.

Nanny state.  No no no.

It's against the law to talk & text on cell phones in cars here in New Zealand (& so it should be)...... but they still do it.

It's also illegal to smoke at work, in work cars, bars / restaurants & frowned upon at outside public places. There has been talk of banning smoking in cars here + public places.

A politician last week met with the tobacco giants here in NZ. He took a recent heart transplant recipient (Smoker) & his smoke ravaged heart & DEMANDED THE TRUTH from these vultures........ I love this guy !

I can't imaging how they would enforce a law banning smoking in cars, compulsory smoke detectors in cars perhaps ?

It is a touchy subject, to legislate safe/smart choices.  Yes, I know that smoking is harmful and i filled my family with second-hand over the years.  I, however, support the one's individual freedom to smoke in, on and around his/her personal property.  Yes, it is harmful to all passengers in the car, but in this instance I vote for allowing the nicodemon to rule.  I also opt for the personal choice to buckle up or wear a helmet.  Conversely, all driving texters must face the firing squad.

Keep the Quit,

Dave

They have already done that where I am! No texting at all, you can talk if you have a bluetooth headset! Ontario, Canada.

I think they are all immediately dangerous to anyone in the car!

I think they should outlaw texting and talking on cell phones in cars. I think those are probably more immediately dangerous to anyone in the car.

Members,

Scotland, Maine, here in Ontario and countless others have passed the ban. It is now being reviewed for consideration in many other places: the smoking ban in cars with children

What do you think about this ban? Too far? How would you like to see it enforced?
