Live life on life's terms. (AA, The Big Book)

The idea here is to give up some control, but not influence. The idea is to recognize that everything that happens throughout the day is not within our power. As someone once told me, "Sometimes you have to be a good passenger." It's probably no secret that life is often easier on agreeable people than it is on disagreeable ones. "Practice picking battles, because willfulness is slippery behavior, which increases stress and leads to crises."

"Just for today, I will be agreeable. I will look
as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low,
act courteously, criticize not one bit, not
find fault with anything and not try to improve
or regulate anybody except myself...

Just for today, I will adjust myself to what is,
and not try to adjust everything to my own
desires. I will take my "luck" as it comes,
and fit myself to it." Reinhold Neibuhr

"Most of us have the same force running through us that allows the planets to move, the earth to orbit, the seeds to sprout, and the flowers to open. We all are driven by a common and universal intelligence that flows through us. Until we locate the sacred space within us that holds this intelligence, we can't recognize this force. As soon as we do, most of the things that may have seemed difficult earlier, start opening up in front of us clearly, visibly, easily. This is when you, in a sense, become a person of self-introspection, whose commandments emanate from a quiet inner sacred space." Albert Einstein

ok well it didn't work..but here is what it is suppose to say without the pretty picture that went with it..It had a beautiful picture of God's hands in the back ground..But here is the message that went with it..I think it is beautiful and very meaningful and thought maybe it would be to someone else also..

Sometimes it's hard to give up control and ask GOD to take care of everything.
But, thats exactly what he wants us to do.
Because it's when we let go of our problems that he can take us by the hand and lead us.
I know it's difficult to take a step back when things aren't good, and I wish I could make everything
alright for you.
But only GOD can do that.
He knows which pathway you should take, and he knows where all the rocky places are.
So trust him to guide you through all of this.
Give him your burdens, give him your hand and he will never let you fall.

After today's slogan, I'll only post to this thread from time to time. Please add your prayers, slogans, poems to this thread as you see fit. I've been told that the thread is helpful. Remember: the thread is not meant to validate any particular religious beliefs. Take what helps and leave the rest.

Don't quit before the miracle happens.

Whether that miracle is the Promises, a quit that is very manageable, or moments and days when you can see the light at the end of a tunnel, remember the miracle will happen.

Love your prayer, Deb. I'm using it today. Below is a poem for today.

~ Acceptance ~

Acceptance means that you
can find the serenity within
to let go of the past
with its mistakes and regrets,
and move into the future
with a new perspective,
appreciating the opportunity
to take a second chance.

Acceptance means you'll find
security again
when difficult times come
into your life,
and comfort to relieve the pain.
You'll always find new dreams, fresh hopes,
and forgiveness in your heart.

Acceptance does not mean
that you will always be perfect.
It simply means that
you'll always try to overcome imperfection.

Acceptance is the road to peace...
letting go of the worst,
holding onto the best,
and finding the hope inside
that continues throughout life.

Acceptance is the heart's best defense,
love's greatest asset,
and the easiest way
to keep on believing
in yourself and others.

Brenda, thanks for starting this thread..... this is my prayer:

Bring us peace, so that we may continue on in this life doing what we promised.  Bring us joy so that we can find a new way.  Allow us our sorrows with people around us that lets it dissipate.  Help us find our way.
