Hi Andrea and welcome back. It sounds like you are wanting the healthiest preganancy for you and your baby and you making the decision to quit is wonderful. Truly, you must know yourself, there is nothing worse than seeing a pregnant woman smoking especially in those later stages. I can say this to you as I was one of those women, and I say that with great shame. I didn't smoke many when pregnant, but I can't lie and say I didnt smoke at all.
The thing is, my daughter had continual ear infections when small, and I am sure this was from continually breathing in a smoky atmosphere  (from both me AND my husband shame on us).
So, stay positive, look on it as a day at a time, dont be daunted by the prospect. Every time you want to pick up a cigarette think of the life inside- good luck Andrea and lean on us as much as you need to.

Hi Andrea,

Congratulations for coming back.  It sounds like you are scared to do this but it also sounds like that you have one big motivator! This will help you stay focused!  I know you can do this!

3 months from now how would it feel knowing that despite your fear you still made it smoke free?

Andrea, congrats on your pregnancy and your decision to quit smoking!  Like Dave said, go through "my program" so your quit plan is current.  Preparation is key to success!  You may check with your medical professional about quitting too without drugs or if he/she has any suggestions.  Just remember that your new child is going to be so happy that their mom doesn't smoke!  Stay close to the boards, post as often as you need, if only to vent.  We're all rooting for your success!

Hi all,

I'm an old member here, blew a 2 year quit about 2 years ago.  Found out I'm pregnant about a week ago.  Raging hormones had me thinking I couldn't quit.  I'm a little calmer now, and have set my date for Monday.

I'm terrified of doing it without meds, and without my hubby quitting with me.  I feel less confident this time around.  I guess I'll need spend lots of time here.

Andrea
