Six hours for me

14 years ago 0 65 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Yes I read Allen Carrs book along time ago. I agree alto on what he say, but I'm using the patch. I guess thats cheating in a way. I'm finding really hard to wake up in the morning and not have a smoke. Thats why I'm using the patch. I would use the gum but I don't like the taste of it, besides it upsets my stomach. I'm going to Las Vegas in a few months and I'm looking forward to a smoke free vacation! Next is my weight but thats a whole other topic for me.

Renee,
Congrats on making it through 6 hours!  I'm so proud of you for not quitting on quitting!!!

Your name kept popping up tonight while I was searching through some old posts so I know you've been here long enough to know the drill....have you read the Easyway to Quit Smoking by Alan Carr?

My only advice is to look at this from a little different angle.  Please eliminate the words "hope", "try" and "would like" from your quit vocabulary.  Today, you GET to quit!  You CAN start walking and walking (and drinking water) WILL help you MAKE this quit a great success and YOU are going to absolutely LOVE your new freedom from the chains of nicotine addiction.

Maybe this attitude will work for you as it's worked for a lot of people who've been successful here.  I know I felt empowered when I told the addict in my head to BUZZ OFF, because I was IN CHARGE and smoking was no longer an option!  Ok, grab your water bottle and lace up your sneakers...let's go for that walk and have some fun!
All the best,
Pat

You are doing it, Renee. Ice, cold water helps to flush the toxins, including the nicotine, out of your system. It also speeds up metabolism. However, I don't know what "lots" of water amounts to. Don't die of water intoxication.

Renee,

I KNOW you can make this work.  You believe it too! Remember you are always at choice in this; you are in control.

I think it's great you are drinking a lot of water. It helps to flush out the toxins and acts as a good distraction.

How do you think you will feel once you get through a week? How will you be rewarding yourself?

Hey Renee!!!

You go, girl!!!  Stick close and let's get 'er done!!!  Do not even think about getting any more cigarettes again because you are a non-smoker now!  Read, post and read some more!  AND post for help when it gets tough and wait for those 5 replies!  It really does work!!!    Live by NOPE!!!  It's the ONLY way to stay quit!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Renee,
Your doing great and off to a great start. Keep drinking water it really helps.  When ever I think about smoking I take a deep breathe in and let it out slowly and it really helps.  Doing this a few times helps me relax and makes the cravings easier to deal with. Its like riding a wave, riding the crave out till it calms down and you are in smooth water again.   Keep going with your quit, and it will get easier.

Renee,
6 hrs might not be a lot in non-smoker's terms. But when you try to quit smoking a minute is a lot... so needless to say, I know how hard those six hours have passed. See what works for you in order to make the time go by faster. Whatever keeps your mind occupied and off the smoking thinggy... One very smart guys said once that it gets better once you stop thinking about what yu lose by not smoking and realize what you gain... At times, that alone might work...
Keep the quit
Cristina

Its been six hours for me since I stopped smoking. I've been drinking lots of water today for some reason. I would like to start walking everyday too. I just hope I can make this quit work this time. I've tried so many times before. Six hours is not alot but its a start!
